well, sitting here WAITING for my knives. I was thinking of getting my wife a small folder of some kind. She's not interested in knives but i think she might discover that it's real handy to always have one.

Now, what/which would you recommend?
Maybe something that is almost as a piece of jewellery or at least looks good.

well, my i have gotten my wife 2 knives, a BM mini stryker and a MT mini SOCOM elite w/the frame lock, she really likes the mini SOCOM elite, carries it all the time now.

if ya dont mind spending some $$ a pat crawford mini kasper w/a damascus blade would be nice, and artsy too.

My wife never carried a knife, nor was she interested in them at first, but now she carries a Spyderco SS Cricket . IMO, you can't go wrong with this little folder with its' stainless steel thin construction and integral Chris Reeve style linerlock. ;)

My wife has recently discovered the usefulness of knives through the folding utility knife I bought her a while back. She says she didn't really realize how many times a day she actually needed a knife. To me that screams "Buy me a new knife".

This Kershaw Sapphire will probably find it's way to her on her birthday next month.

Nice and thin. 3" blade, 4" overall, adjustable tip up/down and the colour (not color ;)) is right. Very lady like (but I'd still carry it). Classy knife.

My wife wasn't big on knives either, even though she has a gun permit. I gave her a Spyderco Dragonfly a few months ago and she started carrying it. The more she used it I noticed that it was too small for some chores so yesterday she graduated to a blue handle Dodo. I agree that the Cricket is a good choice also.

My wife 'started' with the Kersaw Rainbow Chive and has since aquired nearly as many as I have (you may not want to get her started)! Can't go wrong with one of the Jesters (Kathy has that with her all the time - and a new one in reserve) or, the small fixed blade Bark River MIKRO (not MINI) Canadian, which offers a selection of handles. She is also partial to the Mini-Griptillian by Benchmade (in purple).
Let us know how it goes!

One of the Kershaws also. Although I bought a CRKT folder for mine and had our name laser engraved in them. Now she likes it. ;)

that Kershaw Sapphire really lokks nice.
Nice Colour (or färg as it is in swedish, bet you couldn't spell that Nats :D )

ok, BEFORE you attack me, it should be looks hehe
I just figured that was Swedish too :D. Looks aboot the same eh.

Also thought aboot the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian (in blue of course) for her. The Kershaw just seemes a little more.....refined.

She likes small "non-knife looking knives"

so far:

Benchmite 310a (rainbow)
Al Mar SLB
Spyderco SS Cricket

I got my wife a green PE Jester. It's under 2" so she can use it at work, too (she's a teacher).

My girlfriend is going to be a teacher also, in fact she just started student teaching this week. This christmas I was trying and trying to think of something I could get her that would go along with it. Unfortunatly all I thought of was a nice cross brand pen. Your idea is a lot better so I'm gonna copy you and get her a very late present :D

When I first dated my wife she was not interested either. I took her to the walnut bowls (shepherd hills) factory store in nashville and we looked around at the case and SAK's. She noticed a purple classic with a pen and I bought it for her.

After that she aquired a kershaw scallion, buck treasure from the 80's in mint condtion, a buck odyssey, and a cheap united omega folder.

;)

The trend in this thread, as in previous discussions of this sort, favors small Spyderco models. That matches my own experience too.

The first knife my wife really loved was a Spyderco Mouse.

I'd suggest a William Henry T10 Lancet, my wife loved hers. There are some really beautiful variations floating around too.

I could see my girlfriend with a Spyderco Meerkat. Cute little knife that has a bit of novelty to it. :D
