Knife for whittling?

Sorry for never answered this question. The only tool I used on those two pieces was the "Carvin' Jack". It is a 6 bladed carving tool made by Flex-Cut. All six blades lock, and it works really good. The indent was caved with one of the tools on it. Its kind of like a 90 degree scoop, but I am not sure what it is actually called.
It's called a "scorp", but is really just a specialized type of gouge.

yup thats the one. Now that you say the name I remember reading it with the literature that came with the knife.

Hey - I did some searches on Carvin' Jack and found that Flexcut has come out with a Cabinet Jack for cabinet makers or other woodworkers. It has an interesting blade set.

Thanks for the link Dijos, I didn't know how to do it. I have one of those in my pocket right now, it's my new EDC. Great knife.

I made this one using a Dexter mechanic/cabinetmakers knife, as soon as I dig up the knife I'll post a pic, oh yea I used an SAK to.

Here's my attempt, I''ll have to finish it, once the balls were free I lost interest.

Took me about 20+ hours on and off, how long did it take you guys?

I think that ball in cage pictured above took me probably about 10 hours. Not sure about the three link chain, not as long though.
