Knife for wife for hiking/backpacking

Thanks for all the responses, I think for $35, I'm going to order her a Tenacious...sweet knife for sweet price!

Thanks for the suggestions, but I was aiming for a folder...

Why not just get her a Mini-Griptilian? 556? Has all the specs you're looking for. You can match too! :D

I got my gf a 556 for camping and she likes it!

That's a big knife. A full size folder for bigger hands. Check some of the YouTube vids to give you an idea of how big it is.

I agree on the Byrd Cara Cara. That, flowers and two romantic Happy Meals at McDonald's will still come in under $50. The Byrd is the best bang for the buck, period.

+1. It's a much larger knife than you'd expect! It's a comfortable knife too, but definitely too large for my girlfriend's hands.

I have very small hands (I'm a guy but I take a ladies size 8 glove:eek:) but it fits my hands just fine. He was looking for a piece with a blade with a minimum length of three inches, so the extra size of the Tenacious is likely not a problem.

The Buck Vantage is indeed a very sweet knife. It's a fine piece of work.

I would also suggest a Mini-Griptilian, one of the models with bright colors so it's less likely to be lost.

Probably more backpackers and hikers carry a SAK than any other single product. The variety of models is astounding.

If you're that worried... get her a pistol and training.

I mean this with all respect as while I'm trained in martial arts and I do carry a knife, and sometimes my Glock 19, if the SHTF, a pistol is what she'll really need. ;)

byrd meadowlark if price is concern
pink native if she wants a folder better than a bm pink grip
pink izula for small f.b.
ag russel bird and trout (sheath is xtra safe for anyone) vg10 if the izula 1095 is a rust/cost concern

Anyone know much about the Benchmade Pardue Mini-Ambush? About the size of a mini-Grip, but $35...

The Mini-Ambush is a great knife. Small, easy to carry for EDC, light weight, depnedable lock (I've had no problems with mine), lanyard hole if she wants to make it pretty (colorful lanyard). I bought two in the past. The only misgiving for me is the AUS-8 steel (not one of my favs), but still good for quick sharpening and it holds a decent edge. At $35.00, you can still get flowers and that Happy Meal at Mcdonald's Confederate spoke of. Hope this helps.

Have a look at the Grohmann #2 Trout and Bird. Made for smaller hands and made in Canada.(not a folder)

check out the pink spyderco native, make her happy and support breast cancer research while your at it. the pink native is a special fundraiser one.
