The Spyderco Tenacious is arguably the best value to be found in the knife world. It is well made, heavy in construction and a good knife for general utility, with a good 'belly'.
If you're that worried... get her a pistol and training.
I mean this with all respect as while I'm trained in martial arts and I do carry a knife, and sometimes my Glock 19, if the SHTF, a pistol is what she'll really need.
Everyone is different. My wife is 5'10" - and loves her rainbow finish Kershaw Chive. See what size is 'comfortable' to her - the WallyWorld near me still has a good collection of Kershaws and Bucks. Try the Kershaw Scallion, Leek, Blur, etc for fit. Heck, the best bargain there is the Buck 110 - a big classic. Too big but like the style? Check out the Buck #503 Prince there - similar but much smaller. Let her give you some feedback. Too bad they don't still carry the Spyderco Native - it was a real bargain and a favorite EDC here (My 551 sits in the drawer!). My wife thinks it is too big!
My wife just saw the picture of the Izula above, and said" Oooh, is that pink!".
$81 is a bit pricey for that little thing though, relatively speaking.
Probably because I can't afford to buy her a $65 knife, nor would she want me buying her a $65 knife...I borrowed my dad's Kershaw Leek last hike we went on, and the size fit her fine...she's 5'4" and petite, so a "bulky" folder probably won't cut it...it's between a Leek of our own, pink mini-grip, and the mini-ambush (she likes the "all black ones"); thanks for everyone's responses on here, appreciated.
the spyderco native is a great little knife that comes in different colors , I got one at wal mart (black handle with cpms30v blade) for well under 50! Spyderco endura would also be a great choice if looking for a longer blade.
