I would like to hear about... your pants.

More specifically, those that are knife-friendly in their design.
Anything from reinforcement to prevent wear, to pockets that fit your favorite knives in the best way possible.

Years ago, I received a card in the mail good for $10 off @ Kohls, with merely a $10.01 minimum purchase. "Free is good," I thought. As it turns out, free and clearance is even better. That day I walked away with three pair of Columbia shorts for less than $2. One pair in particular went on to become the best pair of knife-pants I have ever owned. It was one of their more carpenter-esque designs, one which I have yet to see them repeat since. In the right-front pocket, they had sewn in a small coin-pocket at the very bottom, perfect for ensuring your clip-free pocket knife wasn't rubbing against anything else and was always oriented in the same direction. On the right side exterior, in lieu of the usual cargo pocket, there were two open pockets in the back, one on top of another just below the back-right pocket. The bottom pocket was perfectly sized for my KA-BAR BK11, while the top was equally made for my Bark River Fox River. I still wear them to this day as my yardwork shorts and occasionally while walking the dog out in a more wooded area.

Not cheap, but I like the reinforcements on the TAD force 10 pants pockets :)

and they come in black sometimes...

Carhartt work pants, both dungarees and logger style. Lots of pockets around the thigh area. I can fit my Fiddleback Terassaur in the front pockets or right legside pocket. Also fits my folders, and theyre double front. Score :)

I personally like the Blackhawk Lightweight Tactical Pants, there is a video review on Youtube that convinced me to buy a pair. Not to badly priced IMO either.

Agreed

Thirded on the Charhartt pants....my favorite by a long mile, and they don't look tacticool, which is a major plus!

I look for pants (jeans usually) with lot of belt loops to better distribute the load evenly along the belt. I use a wide belt, so I look for pants with wide loops and lots of them.

Things tend to get weighed down when I have my fixed blade riding on my left side, with a folder on my belt on the right side. Then there is the chain wallet, a spyderco clipped to my front pocket, and to end the list of stuff there are the keys in my pocket along with various amounts of change.

Old Navy had a design period where their shorts had multiple pencil-type pockets instead of the now more typical cargo pocket. These were so perfect for phone/folder/pen. Mine are mostly disintegrated now, sadly, and I haven't seen them there since.

I just ordered a pair of the tru-spec 24-7 shorts. They look to be very knife friendly from the pictures and reviews. They also maintian a very neat not over the top tactical look. Normally I have a lot of luck on the clearance rack at American Eagle.

5.11 Taclite Pro pants are great for knife pocket carry  You can use either the small flat "knife pocket" on the front, or the regular front side pockets with the reinforced lower corner seam. Tactical looking perhaps, shrug, but I like the way they function and how durable they are.

Virtually any pair of roomy [ tight jeans probably wouldn't work ] pants can be made knife friendly by cutting off the bottom of the front pockets. With a G-clip attached to a kydex sheath you can carry any sized knife that doesn't hang lower than your knee. I've gone hiking with my CS LTC kukri in my left pocket and my CS Gurkha kukri in my right pocket, and passed dozens of people without anyone having a clue about the heavy metal I'm packing. Speaking of heavy; I've attached suspenders to my pants, as heavy knives do tend to make pants sag a little, even with a belt.
I think it's a cheap and very practical way to carry big knives in a discrete manner.

5.11's Tac pant come with a reinforced band sewn on the pocket. Pretty smart. Too bad the pants dont fit me that well.

I've found that Dickies and Wrangler carpenter pants are pretty knife friendly for what I EDC. Same with the shorts variety of each brand. I like them for carrying a sheathed knife too, I don't belt carry them.

A big recommendation for the Tru-Spec 24-7 pants and shorts. I like the cargo pocket system they have going there. There is two smaller open pockets inside the main cargo pocket on each side. I carry a small FB in it's sheath in one half and a small flashlight in the other half on one side. The smaller flapped pocket is the perfect size for my cell phone. The same set-up is on the other side. You can hold a ton of stuff between the two sides, and you don't look like you are loaded down. For those of you that carry a survival tin type of container, it will easily fit inside one of the smaller compartment pockets in the main cargo pocket. Great pants, I prefer the regular canvas material to the lighter rip-stop fabric.
