Knife-Friendly Pants

I've found that Dickies and Wrangler carpenter pants are pretty knife friendly for what I EDC. Same with the shorts variety of each brand. I like them for carrying a sheathed knife too, I don't belt carry them.
Can you expand on that, why do they not fit well?

Mine seem to be holding up well....................

I have been wearing Riggs for the past 10 years and LOVE them. Great hard wearing cargos.
The leather pocket patch really works well protecting the jeans and gripping the knife pocket clip.

Good luck in your search,

A big recommendation for the Tru-Spec 24-7 pants and shorts. I like the cargo pocket system they have going there. There is two smaller open pockets inside the main cargo pocket on each side. I carry a small FB in it's sheath in one half and a small flashlight in the other half on one side. The smaller flapped pocket is the perfect size for my cell phone. The same set-up is on the other side. You can hold a ton of stuff between the two sides, and you don't look like you are loaded down. For those of you that carry a survival tin type of container, it will easily fit inside one of the smaller compartment pockets in the main cargo pocket. Great pants, I prefer the regular canvas material to the lighter rip-stop fabric.

Just got my Tru-Spec shorts and so far they are exactly what I was looking for. Love the pocket configuration. The pockets inside the cargo pockets are awesome. The knife pockets on the side are little too small to fit my Manix 2, but its ok because I like to carry my primary blade clipped inside the right cargo pocket under the flap. I will probably be getting a pair of the pants very soon.

I got inspired by my own post and ordered two pair of 5:11 Taclite pants.

I've just started wearing my 5.11s again. The Academy shorts were the bomb- but they stopped making them. Vertyx are also very good.

Self-inspiration can be expensive!

That is so true! Pants got here and I wore a pair over the weekend, very comfortable.. I carried my Spydie Military in the right leg pocket, never knew it was there. I didn't carry IWB but I tried them that way and ordering one size larger was fine.

I've been very happy with prAna. They don't look tacticool; more upscale, and they fit right. Carharrt makes good jeans, but other than the carpenter pants (which look stupid unless you're on a job site) they're no more knife friendly than any others.

One of the best things you can do is get a tailor and have them put a line of stitching in your normal pants (slacks) pockets that fits your EDC. Then you can carry it concealed and not have to worry about it sliding around and getting tangled in the other stuff you carry.
