Time goes by quickly and I didn't even realize I had gone over the 500 mark. So yesterday at a market at the Toji temple in Kyoto I picked up a brand new lovely little Japanese cutter, complete with side designs in the steel. This is a single beveled knife (best for a right handed person,) designed not to be used with a handle although you could mount one easily enough. I bought two of them, one for myself, and man-o-man it takes a wicked edge!

So with the cherry blossoms getting ready to pop out next week I thought that some good photos of Spring might be in order. When you think of Springtime, what does it look like to you? Old or new photos OK. To be fair, I'll let my wife and the cat choose the winner. (No fair including mice in the photo to entice one of the judges.)

Today is Sunday here, so let's say this will close next Saturday, the 28th. Open to all regardless of State, Country, or Planet. :D

Thank you for the opportunity!

I would be all on board, but my spring won't be here for another few months. We just recently got a full foot of dump and are scheduled for another 10 cm tonight!!! Its right around this time that I start hating snow hahaha good luck with this one you lucky ducks and have fun with your spring!

and of course congrats on the big 500 stitchawl

Hey Stitch, Congrats on 500 sir!

Very generous giveaway, specialy considering the pia it is to ship something from Japan. Do you think people would really stupe that low and try to bribe the cat to win a prize?

Spring time to me means it's time to hit the water and go fishing.

Hey congrats on the 500 Stitchawl. When I think about Spring time I usually think about wildlife. I took these a couple weeks ago at my friends cabin. Holding the lettuce in one hand and the camera in the other just snapping away the whole time. Sorry for posting so many, but it I think it looks pretty cool with the progression of them.

No problem. If I have the time, I might even make a little sheath for it. I think it would make a dandy neck knife!

I fully expected that fish to turn towards me and start singing. I was almost disappointed when it didn't.

Definitely has a strong resemblance to Big Mouth Billy Bass.
"Don't worry, be happy now. Woo, oooooh oooh ooh ooh ooohoo". Haha, it's difficult to convey different pitches of ooohs with typing.

I love contests mainly because of the fact that they give themed photo assignments. Great idea about spring!

Here is what I think of - trout lilies, trilliums and morels!

Has the ice gone out yet? I used to live by a huge lake in the north east, and there was always a contest on the local radio station for the day when the ice finally dropped. Of course, there were always a few pickup trucks that went through the ice before that day came around. Sort of a 'hey guys... it's coming!'

Powernoodle Progeny in front of a Tulip Poplar. When that tree blooms each year, I know it is spring, and I know my progeny are taller. Their hair is being grown out for a cancer fundraiser.

Congrats Stitchawl!

Being the winner in a recent give-away and a lefty, I'm going to sit this one out. Just wanted to give you a .

Spring was always bird hunting in my household. As a matter of fact, I got out this past weekend with my dad and his dog to do a little quail hunting. She's 8 but she's still got a little pep in her step!
