Codger, I'm just spitballin" here but I'm willing to bet you were waiting for my post at a little past midnight.
Well,brother built new house, so Christmas Eve at his place.Coming home a doe jumps out,hit deer.Killed deer.Slight damage to van.Neighbor calls cops.Cops come,smell booze.
Early Christmas present from policeman.
Pass field sobriety test and he advises me to return to brother's place for coffee.
Done.
I know drinking and driving is wrong,had a couple beers.
My bad.Anywho,that's why I was late.Sorry!
All is well. :thumbup:

Glad you were all OK, and the cop was lenient. No, I was over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house in Arkansas, and we just returned. Congrats, Toby!

Now, inquiring minds want to know,..... did you jump out with a Schrade 165OT and butcher the deer, or did the cop take it? Or the nosey neighbor?

No good deed goes unpunished, you know. But at least it all ended well!

Codger, No 165OT content,sadly,but after a quick phone call to a friend,and a few coffees at my brother's,deer was delivered to a bud.He didn't even get a shot this season,and he almost never doesn't bring the venison home.He really appreciated it and he and his wife and kids(3) will be having venison this winter.
I know,I know,drinking and driving is a no-no,and I most definitely learned a lesson.I was VERY lucky!I said a couple beers and .08 is impaired 'round here,I probably wouldn't have passed.Close call and lesson learned.
