What knife is Bear Grylls using in yesterday's(Sahara) episode of Man vs. Wild? Looks like he's starting to use high end cutlery...maybe?

I refuse to watch that show. I think he may have taped an episode in my back yard last week.

LOL.

I am getting a big kick out of the lil bears (cubs) all doing "survival" on youtube now.

Just waiting for one of them to find a swollen can and eat the contents on accident trying to be extreme.

The knife is his from his own line of "survival endorsed" merchandising....yay! product placement in the wild ; )

Just checked his website. $731.85 for one small knife??!!! He must be smoking some strong stuff....

I think the customers are the ones who must be on crack. Unless you mean he's rockin the good shit because of the 2500% markup.

He showcased it well, though. I think it is the most I have seen a knife visible and used in the show.

he must be on more than crack for that price think of one of the super customs that have been tryed and tested in the real world were pepole aren't in the back ground with modern tools doing the work. best said buy someone in this forum .that show is like a cooking show. for exsample here your live turkey and in the next 2 secs. here is your golden brown ready to eat thanks giving dinner. used to love that show what a let down. but even before this all surfaced i aways told my wife and friends there was just some stuff that didn't seem real.

Reminds me of the movie "the hunted" and the tracker knife.

Overpriced overhyped knife de Jour.

I've said this on another thread somewhere, but Discovery is desperate for a new Steve Irwin. They must have shat when that money disappeared.

Wait until you see the new Codger Wilderness Knife (CWK). IMHO, the CWK in your PSK will make you the BMOC and assure your survival if TEOTWAWKI happens. And makes a primo PB&J sammich in the meantime! :D

My money is on Les. God love that guy, he actually gets scared, frustrated, disjoint, disheveled and strung out from some of the places and situations he gets into and he carries a harmonica. Yes, he is 45, hairy and not on the cover of muscle and primitive camping but darn it if he doesn't make an enjoyable show.

That's because Les Stroud IS the real deal when it comes to actually demonstrating what it's going to be like out there. Les' is'nt a BS'er and calls it just like that in real life. If you get his dry sense of humor then he'll have you laughing all day in or out of camp.

As many negatives as there are to Bear I still enjoy his show or any shows on the subject. Sure Bear goes way overboard on most everything but I compare it to any other extreme sport. Mostly I am happy to know that the TV people are finally accknowledging that the survival market is big enough to start catering too. Also Bear has a tendancy to actually show knives in a positive role......I really don't give a hoot if he makes a few bucks. If I ate half the crap he does on screen you would pay a lot more for a Siegle knife too :D Now If I could influence the networks, yeah I'd rather watch Les and would love it if he had a bigger budget and a LOT more episodes :) I would love to see either guy do at least 1 episode with a complete kit though.....the bare bones approach is getting kinda old. I know each guy is trying to keep it real, but in reallity many folks would have a lot better gear than is shown in the shows. I'd also like to see maybe a little military survival....ya know, no fire, stay quiet and hid....that sorta thing.

IDK why you guys hate Bear so much ? Like I said in another post, he is a lot more exciting than watching that old hippie Les complain about everything and sleep all of the time!

Yeah, thats steep. But keep in mind that each knife comes with a pint of Bear's personal urine, in case you get hot or thirsty while in the bush ;)
