Knife in Man vs. Wild: Sahara episode?

I watch my first full man vs wild episode this past week. I'll stick with the Les is more aproach
I have ejoyed survivor man since it first came out, the last episode I saw it showed him killing a brown bobby chic (almost sounds like porno) with a stick. One wack to the head and dinner was on

To me, it looked like Bear had something like a Buck Vanguard, and not the Bayley custom piece that bears (pun intended) his name. Although I DVRd the new episode, I have yet to rewatch it and take notes.

Here's a recent thread from the General Forum about a member who bough t a Bayley Bear Grylls knife:

Here's Baley's website:

Custom knife + celebrity association = expensive knife. Just look at what the John Rambo knife is going for.

Wow I just cant fathom spending 700 dollars on that Bear knife? Jeeze louise! If I had Warren Buffet's cash I couldnt do it. Why? Why? How could buy that thing?

I thought the sahara episode was one of the worst ones ever. It just seems like BS from the begining. It looked liked they filmed 5 minutes and then sat in the camp shade for a while drank a bunch of gatorade and then went and filmed five more minutes. It was all chopped up to pieces and nothing seemed to flow. his version of a solar type stil was laughable and I dont think you would be able to get any condensation from dead palm leaves.

Yeah, $700 can buy 5 or more very good knives that would be suitable for survival.

The tone of the new season of "Man vs Wild" has changed. Bear is a little more realistic in crediting his crew for their help. They caught the lizard or the snake for him. The show was much more informative and educational. He seems to have left out most of his stunts but still seems to over state the dangers of some of the creatures he meets. Sure cobras and scorpions are dangerous but you can avoid them with common sense. A guess potential danger makes the adventure more exciting for the viewers. Time will tell if this new tone carries on in future shows. A give the new season an "A" grade.

Anyone one watch the Bear's Mt. Everest special? I thought it down right dangerous and cool. I'd never in a million years do what he did.

I watched the Sahara episode or most of it. It was okay. This season the shows are different. He still likes to eat stuff raw.

I'd go the Ray Mears or Lofty Wiseman knife for that much, at least they're real when there in the wild.

In the Sahara episode, though he talked a lot about how thirsty and hot he was, he didn't ever seem to show any of the classic extrernal signs of dehydration. His lips weren't even chapped.
