Knife Life - New York City

NYC knife owners are unfairly un-Constitutionally oppressed and prosecuted minority, by a bunch of ignorant, small minded, corrupt "liberal oppressor" politicians! "liberal" what an oxymoron!

NYC gun owners already found out how "liberal" our governor is, when literally in the middle of night, when nobody could vote against it, he signed new law that made criminals out of thousands of law abiding gun owners. You went to sleep law abiding citizen with you standard 15rd Glock 19 magazine, and woke up next morning criminal because now you are legally only allowed to have 7rds/mag. Nobody even makes 7rd magazines, smallest ones made are 10rd! So to be legal you can ONLY load 7rds in a 10rd mag! You have to destroy your old high capacity mags or risk going to jail.

There is only one way to stop this madness, that is vote out of the office all "liberal/democrats" in next election who oppress and take away all our God given and Constitutional Rights! ex: governor Cuome, mayer DiBlasio, DA Vance Jr, etc.

Sorry for long rant, but I'm really sick and tired of this BS and being treated like a criminal by people who supposedly work for me, after all my huge taxes (fed, state, city county, etc etc) pay their high salaries!

On a national level, the ground swell is already happening, and the liberals are out. In two years the mid terms are due, and further house cleaning can be done, IF the people get out and vote for a change in command!!

Now while technically according to letter of the law your knife is perfectly legal BUT according to that pesky "Gravity Knife Law" that is up to each NYPD officer to interpretation your knife is illegal! Here is why, it looks to me like a non-locking slip-joint, correct? Well, here is what will happen, cop will grab it by the blade and vigorously fling it open using weight of the handle and he will repeat this as many times as he likes until he manages to open it!:mad:

I have traditional Solingen 3-blade slip-joint folder, when I first started using it, I had to use both hands holding tight to the blade to open it, the pressure from back bar was causing blade to close up on my fingers without warning if let go. So I open/closed it repeatedly until metal was worn off on the back of blade against back bar and became smooth. Now it's very smooth and easy to open, which unfortunately would make it easy to flip open like I mentioned above, so now it's no longer "legal".

Here is irony, knife laws restricting easy to open one handed and locking pocket knives are designed to protect few thousand police against few hundred criminal who "might" use locking folder as a weapon against them, it's all about police safety where they are concerned. But the fact that all these locking and opening mechanisms were designed as a safety feature to protect life and limbs of all millions of law abiding average citizens, is no concern for politicians or police!:thumbdn:

If they actually cared for public safety at all, it would be federally mandatory that all folding knives come equipped with some kind of locking mechanism!:thumbup:
 
i have stopped carrying my pocket knife unless i am going to be at a friends place.

the stories i read are very scary...its very sad because i have travelled to asia and even though they have strict drug laws, no one cares if u carry a knife...you see butchers openly working at their street shops with big cleavers, regular people carrying a fixed blade or large pocket knife etc.

America has strangely started feeling less and less of a land of freedom ...i dont even think about owning a gun ever because of all the hurdles.

Try to bring facts with you. A slip joint is not illegal even in NYC. To qualify as a gravity knife, it needs to lock open.
