Knife lube?

Was wondering what you guys use for lube on those folders. I run all my guns on Mobile One but it seems a bit “heavy” on my pocket folders. It also attracts a lot of gunk from the pocket but I’m not sure I can get away from that regardless of lube type.

Use Teflon if your attracting too much dust.
I use finish line brand or the stuff that comes with the crk sebenza.

If you can't disassemble, then Teflon grease is probably not idea.

If you want a fluid try kpl aka knife pivot lube.

Also if you use a fluid, less is more. So you may be putting to much mobile1 on. 1 drop of lube is enough for both sides and the detent. Lube spreads around very well. You don't want a lake of lube.

truth be told I really dont. I just keep clean from grit and sand etc. if it gets gritty I wash in hot water and dish type soap. then air compressor blow dry and wd40 to remove water, not for lubrication. then wipe out residual wd40 and go back to using.

If it can be disassembled after I clean it and b4 I reassemble I put a drop of rem-oil on each side. If it can't I use jb's method but sometimes I flush with lighter fluid.

I think I’ll give the kpl a try. I’ve seen that mentioned before but never knew what it was. Thanks.

Do u have any adverse effects from the mineral oil? To much gunk or anything like that? I've seen that mentioned b4 but haven't tried it yet.

Over the last ... 49 or so years I've used a few drops of either 3 in 1 oil, Hoppy's gun oil, transmission fluid, hydrolic oil, new or (well) used 10-W30, 90 weight gear lube, olive oil, corn oil, vegetable oil, or mineral oil, depending on what I had available to lube the joints on my slipjoints and lockbacks at the time. :)

In 30-40 yrs of carrying a knife in my pocket I've never fussed with it. I got a knife the other day and po had oiled, it was smooth I must say. So ive oiled a couple times since without it gunking up.
As said, it dont take much and wipe it off completely and i wouldnt even worry if its food safe as there wont be enough to cause any harm.

I keep mineral oil handy in the kitchen for wooden spoons and handles and butcher blocks and cutting boards.

I sharpen in the kitchen. So it is the natural choice for wooden knife handles and pivots too. Never noticed anything bad.

I haven't noticed any adverse effects. No different than other oils. Like most, I oil, work the blade to work it in and then wipe as much off as possible, including nooks and crannies with a folded tissue. It's amazing to see how much black stuff comes out of there, especially on new knives.

I use mineral oil on knives I plan to use for food prep, Williamsville Butcherblock Oil to be specific.

RemOil works well for everything else.
yes i agree so much with this!!! and i use mineral oil or water to sharpen if i need a coolant or some thing to keep dust from building..
rem oil is for guns or gears... as any knife is subject to be used for food

I use either Coon P by SMKW or Zero-Friction by ProShot (gun cleaning products). Been using both for ten years - no adverse effects on any knives that I have ever noticed. OH

Same oil I use for my guns and fishing reels: Hoppe's #9.

Also If you're using too much oil use a can of compressed air to dry it out before you pocket it again. All you need are a few drops on pivot areas.

What does the mineral oil do to wood I’ve never tried it. I have soaked wooden handle kitchen knives in olive oil. Does it have the same effect

Mineral oil is what is recommended for butcher blocks and cutting boards. It’s food safe and won’t turn rancid like olive oil and other food based oils.

It just soaks in.

Thanks I didn’t know that I have a block I will try it on . It’s kind of dried out should make it look better right
