Knife Makers - Stabilized Burl Testing Results

Tim, your comment makes perfect sense. Since a small thin cut scale would weigh next to nothing it makes sense that the scales be as dense as possible. That is easy to accomplish. I will make sure that thin scales are stabilized in that manner.
Thanks for the helpful input.
Mark

There should be several more finished knives finished in the coming week. I can't wait to see how they turn out. At the start of this thread is a list of the participating makers and which ones are already completed. Thanks to everyone who took part. Feel free to post your compliments to the makers of the finished knives.
Thanks, Mark

I got a very nice piece of maple burl from Mark, complete with the endpins. I have a couple of orders to do first, so it will be at least a week before I get to it. But believe me I'm brainstorming how to make the best use of it! Thanks again, Mark.

Here is my contribution. I originally planned on putting this on a full tang, but when I got that beautiful block, I couldnt cut it down the middle. Here is the result, albeit a little late.

More knives coming in the next week.
A few more of the makers have been in touch and will have their knives finished soon. I can't wait to see what they make.

I have been contacted by a few more of the makers that will have their knives finished real soon. Watch for new photos.

Well with the busy summer I finally got the burl used on a knife. This is my first time using buckeye burl and I really like the way it looks.

The wood was finished with super glue and buffed. The steel is 1/8" O1, and the pins are copper.

Thanks again Mark!

I got to see this one last night. It's a darned nice piece of wood and an even nicer knife. I can see how it'd be tough to get a good picture of the blade and wood at the same time though.
