Knife plagiarism

I know you were well-intentioned in starting this thread, but why give this and other companies free advertising by posting a link to their knockoff product?

Oh the IRONY!
Isn't Plagiarism more appropriate for a written work? This is just copyright infrigment.

It's not clear that it's copyright infringement, as copyright generally refers to things like books, art, music and such. It might be a patent infringement, if the design is patented. It's even possible to be a trademark infringement, if the criteria is met. The use of "AK-47" might make it so. However, that "AK-47" almost surely makes it a counterfeit, even if it doesn't say "Cold Steel".

I think there's so many copies out there--of everything, not just knives--that it's not worth being angry over. It's impossible to keep track of all of them, just keep your eyes peeled, do your research, and use your best judgement call. "that a Chinese company would rip off a cold steel design" sounds like it wasn't plausible. Maybe just me, but these days I kinda expect everything to have a knock-off version, even knock-offs have their own copies.

Most people would have more sympathy for Cold Steel, if they didn't rip-off other people's designs all the time.

I'm with you 100% there. Not that I think they deserve it...two wrongs don't make a right...but it does on occasion make me snicker.

That's typical Chinese protocol.From a $2.00 knife to a stealth helicopter.Its probably a good knife too.What was it.$4.99 free shipping.Geezz!

jake5775,
We know you mean well, but you should be aware that Cold Steel has made a business of stealing Knifemaker's designs and hawking them for cheaper since the 1980's.

Besides the many.My all time disgusting rip off is The Brian Tighe "Tighe Stick" cleverly re-named the Cold Steel "Black Sable" :barf:
