Knife recommendation under $100

Ok i took a look at everything you guys mentioned. When i say narrow/wide im talking about the height from the edge to the backbone.
IMO this is the order in which i like them appearance wise:
1.Mini Griptilian: Love the blade design pointy but not too narrow, the handle could be better but the reputation this has is what put its on top

2 Kershaw Cryo 2: Overall appearance is pleasant, blade is a little wide but im scared of everyone saying to stay away from metal handles now
cryos-300x132.jpg

3 Kershaw Knockout: LOVE the Handle The blade seems a little on the short/wide side
images

4Kershaw Blur: Not digging the handle too much, the blade is ok although i wish it were straighter, but everyone seems to like the blade and im here for a tried and true folding knife

5Ontario Rat 1: A little small looking but not bad, never heard of ontario brand
images

6Lonewolf Mini Landslide: Looks a little small/narrow

7Cold Steel Code 4: Not too shabby, easy on the wallet
images

8Kershaw Piston: Found this while looking at other kershaw, Blade is a little too straight
images

9 Cold Steel Recon 1: Too tactical looking

10Kershaw Leek: Too pointy and narrow

Kershaw has so many quality usa-made models in quality steel in your budget that meet your specs. There are various cousins to the blurwithout the recurve too. The mini-grip is great, but the handle is love/hate and a touch small.

One other point is that, while the mini-grip is a great knife, Benchmade's MAP policy has made is significantly less competitive at the price point. It's possible to take a really significant step up in terms of materials for similar costs.

Please post a price and picture so i dont have to google it and stuff.

Anything else we can do? Buy it for you maybe? :D

You DO need to do some Googling and stuff if you want help. You are not using the terms you need to be using for us to help.

- The blur is a drop point. It has a recurve edge.
- A spear point can be fully serrated, half serrated, or plain edge.
- What does "Blade is a little too straight" mean?
- "never heard of ontario brand"...Google it.
- "The blade seems a little on the short/wide side", "Looks a little small/narrow"

People here can help, but you gotta do some legwork.

I strongly suggest going to any of the BF Paid Dealer members

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1089879-Paid-Dealer-Members-List-(Updated-5-12-15)

and spending sometime looking around, because this doesn't seem to be getting anywhere particularly quickly. You seem to be looking for something very specific, and we cannot read your mind to know what it is.

- What does "Blade is a little too straight" mean?
Meaning the bottom edge of the blade is almost parallel to the backbone/point.

- "never heard of ontario brand"...Google it.
I did do that but unfortunatley it doesnt tell me what thousands of users who are more experienced with knives can tell me about their quality.

- "The blade seems a little on the short/wide side", "Looks a little small/narrow"
When i say short/long im talking about the blade length.
When i say small/big im talking about the overall size of the blade.
When i say narrow/wide im talking about the point and the distance between the edge to the backbone.

There are millions of different blade styles, materials, lengths, edges colors etc. Sorry if im being a bit picky but i dont know much about knives as you all do. I put in the description of OP the knife descriptions im looking for to the best of my knowledge. Dont get butthurt if you mention a knife and i dont like it. Any knives you guys recommended i took a look at, and they all fit the description.

Thats what i noticed kershaw seems to be a reasonable quality brand and they have better pricepoints. I seem to like their designs, so ill be looking at this brand more.

Plus 1 for the rat folders. They are light easy to handle. Take a good edge. Come in a couple of sizes. Inexpensive include the esee zancudo in there too.

I own several, have used em. Abused a few also and no failures in any aspect. Total RAT/ESEE fan!

Looks can be deceiving; especially in pics... The knockout's blade is a full quarter inch longer then the mini grip, and same size as the cryo2, and just a bit shy of the blur... So it might "look" to be short/wide, its a good amount of steel right thur.

LOL at responses for a guy that asks others to post pics because he admits he's too lazy to use Google.

Yeah the Knockout actually has a pretty good sized blade. The handle is a tad small if anything, but I love her anyways. I like the steel especially, it takes a good edge ridiculously easily. Also, don't shy away from metal handles -- it's a preference thing more than anything else. The Knockout is a subframe lock so that means the lockbar is a piece of steel, and the handles are aluminum. Very strong and light. It's a great knife, but all of the knives you're looking at are great choices. If you get the BM Griptilian or mini-grip, you'll likely love it. If you already like the design, stop waiting and buy it. Usually the problem is that people think it's not a looker, but if you like it, seriously, just get it. A plus for the mini grip is that it has full liners instead of partial liners like the full size. If you're into that sorta thing. I think you may want to look into the full sized Griptilian though, based on what you're looking for, the mini seems a little small in comparison.

Knife Type: Folding

Edge Type: Plain/Half serrated
Blade Length:3-3.5 inches or close to that
Handle Material:Either

Steel: <potentially non-family friendly acronym deleted> im not a master blacksmith

Price:$50-100

I'm still trying to get my head around this thread. dumbass here (hey, he picked the name), wants a knife. No particular steel, either (???) handle material, pretty much any shape or lock, but he is very picky.

And we are at page two of:

"Is this it?"
"No."
"Is this it?"
"No."
"Is this it?"
"No."
Repeat.

That's where we are at, right?

Well, I'll throw my hat in the ring then, and give dumbass a suggestion.

Since you are sort of unsure of what you want I would advise getting a sub $50 knife to start and save your money. find your preferences (which takes time), then purchase a high quality folder that you know you will like and carry.

- Kershaw Cryo
- Ontario Rat Model 1
- Spyderco tenacious (if you wish to try spydercos)

There are hundreds of knives but I think most people have owned one of the above knives if not all of them. They are inexpensive and great introductary knives

If you were willing to go over your budget you could get a griptilian and then purchase custom scales in whatever handle material you could find. It will add significantly to the cost but sometimes it's worth it if you want the knife.

CRKT has the Ken Onion Ripple, the Carson M21 and the Shenanigan....

Kershaw Strobe might do you well...

The Marttini MFK-1T sounds like it fits, as would the Folding Handy...

The Gerber Myth has your sort of layout...

Boker Magnum Weaver maybe...

Sorry about the no-pics thing, but a couple mouse clicks will have any of these on your screen.
