hi, mi name is Francisco, I have been looking the forums for a long time , I've a small collection of knives (factory produced) and I want to start collecting hand made knives, the problem is that I live in Mexico and knives can't enter the country by mail. so I'll have to travel to buy knives ( don't know if that's good or bad ) so I'll be in the Houston area for a couple of months beginning in august. does anybody knows if there is a knife store that carries customs or knife makers with knives in stock.

than you

Francisco

I tend not to wander much, so I'm afraid I don't know of but a couple of places. :(

As far as retailers go, there is a REI in north Houston.
It also seems like there is an Academy or Sports Authority on every corner, but I've never been all too impressed with their offerings.

If shows are more your thing, they hold "The Real Gun Show" down in Pasadena (SE Houston) a number of times per year. Looks like they have shows coming up end of OCT beginning of NOV. Never been to one of them myself, but I can't help but imagine there are plenty of knives floating around there as well.

Francisco,

If you want to see very nice high end forged custom blades, try to make it to San Antonio August 21-22. This will be your best bet to actually see custom inventory in Texas this summer:

hope to see you there!

Check in the makers forum here Paco. Maybe you can have a maker get one made while you are here.

ok thank you all for your input. I would really like to go to the San Antonio show but I'll arrive to Houston the 23 rd ( maybe the next time ). I'll post as frank suggest in the makers area probably someone can make it happen in less than the 9 weeks I'm going to be there.

thanks

Francisco
