I am driving my son to college in Atlanta on Saturday and driving back to Maryland (D.C. area) on Sunday. Any good knife shops right off 95 or 85 when I need to take a break from driving?

As mentioned, Atlanta Cutlery is one you want to see.

Also, there's Brigade Quatermasters on the north side of town in Kennesaw. This is more hit and miss, with knives, but they usually have some good tacticals.

Moved from General.

If you are looking for knife shops in Atlanta (aka Bastidville) prepare for a letdown. (a big one.)

in nc the only two knife shops i know of are

becks cutlery in cary, nc. which is just outside raleigh. I-85 goes through durham about 20 miles north (probably 30 minutes to get there)

there is a place called blades by brown in clemmons, just west of winston-salem. never been there not sure if it is worth a visit. the best way to get there would be to go North on I-77 in charlotte and then east on I-40 in statesville. you could then get back on I-85 in durham.

i have not lived in north carolina for quite a while so i would call first

Davi's in Raleigh, NC has quite a collection. Kershaws, CRKT, BM, Spyderco, plus a ton of others and customs. It's primarily a gun store but they have a HUGE inventory of quality knives. It's where I got my Kershaw Leek and where dad got his BM full-sized early production Rukus

So, I just got back home an hour ago. 12 3/4 hours down yesterday and 10 1/4 back today. Approx. 1300 miles in two days. I couldn't stop anywhere on the way down and just wanted to get home on the way back. Maybe next trip I'll stop by that place in Raleigh. It sound good. Thank you to everyone who posted.
