Knife shops in San Fancisco

I just moved to SF from Boston and today I went on the hunt for shops selling knives in the vicinity. I have no knowledge of the area, but I searched online and found some cutlery shops on Yelp. I took a drive out to Dublin and Castro Valley (about a 45 minute drive from the city). I first checked out a place called Guns, Fishing and Other Stuff (http://www.gunsfishing.com) which was having a sale. Unfortunately the sale did not include their knife selection. They had a relatively small selection for a good sized hunting & fishing outfitters, but it included quite a few Kershaw and Cold steel models at decent prices. Nothing piqued my interest, so after some further Yelp research I took a chance on a small mom & pop shop called Mel's Shoe Clinic (http://www.melsshoeclinic.com) in Castro Valley. I was pleasantly surprised. They had a good selection of knives including numerous Benchmade and Spyderco as well as some Al Mar offerings. They had a few interesting discontinued Spyderco models such as the Meerkat as well. A very pleasant woman who I assume is one of the owners spent a good 30 minutes with me letting me check out all of the knives I was interested in. She was exceedingly patient and helpful. I settled on a Spyderco Stretch C90 with a SS handle with Kraton inlays for which I payed $174...a
little more than what I saw it priced at online, but I was happy to support a small brick and mortar shop run by nice folks. I will be visiting them again. I hope this info is helpful for anyone looking for knife shops in the Bay Area.

Welcome to the Bay Area.

Mel's is a funky place some of their prices are high, at leastr as of my last visit. There is an ammo store in Castro Valley (lost their FFL now just sell accessories and ammo) have some BM and Spyderco.
There is a Shaver Cutlery shop in Oakland, great inventory even Gold Class BMs but price is often higher than MSRP, nice folks.

Thanks for the suggestions!
