Anyone watch The Unit? There were close up shots on a couple of knives in tonight's episode. Nothing special, a tac folder and what I would call a common USMC style fixed blade. Thought it was worth mentioning though! Besides, anything to promote one of my favorite shows.

They lost me last season when they started that CIA mole/unit breakup/fugitive stuff, but I caught it last night and they seem to be back on track.

I know it's just escapist entertainment, but last night's show was extremely anti-sheeple in it's messages, with both story lines. When was the last time you saw a show extol the virtues of teaching your daughter to handle
a 1911?

I thought it was cool, but the guy played by Scott Foley, I think, handed that one lady a gun and just told her to pull the trigger. Not cool, he should have at least gone through basic gun operation/safety like Tom Cruise did in MI:III.

I watched the show too. Not bad. I liked the father-daughter portion of the show. The land mine portion was a bit slow. I guess you have to have been in the military to appreciate that portion of the show.

Sorry to revive what is a thread of limited interest, but anyone catch the knife in tonight's episode? Looked like it might have been a Spyderco of some sort. Anyhow, looked like a nice tac folder.

Promise I won't make a habit of this.

I didn't see any Spyderco knives. The one that was visible had a triangular opening hole that I am not familiar with. But then, I don't get out much, and I don't keep up on the tacticool scene.

I think the character of "Mack" was using a Xikar XI730 on last nights episode.

I have not watched that show much for a year but one episode had Foley and the older black guy going to rescue a girl from a cult. There was a close-up of a Benchmade sheepsfoot blade used by Foley to lever open a fire extinguisher wall case.

Another episode had a view of Mack using a folder to cut a piece of hose to use to siphon fuel.

I think it maybe a Benchmade Ally because of the black color of the knife and the slot opening on the blade.

This is the best capture I got. It appears to have a thumbstud as well as the hole, there was jimping on the spine above the hole (visible in the next shot), and the bottom of the hole looks pretty straight to me.

i think it is the ka-bar maserin...and yes the unit is a great show...they also did lose me with that cia garbage but it seems they are back to the basics with an expanding plot...WOOT!!!

Edonis and dextersp1, I stand corrected. I found I still had this episode on my DVR, and found a second scene that gave a much better shot of the knife, it was indeed a Spyderco Byrd Meadowlark with the black combo edge.

That funky thumbhole the Byrd's have really stands out!

i find it odd that with all the really cool tac folders to choose from they pick a byrd??

not that byrds are bad mind ya, its just an odd choice imho.

i would think they would pick maybe an emerson or a strider, or a BM rukus, a spyderco millie or civilian, but a byrd??

go figure i suppose lol.

Even hit TV shows have a budget! :D

Griptilians and Ka-Bars are featured a lot on there and those are fairly inexpensive.
