Knife shots on The Unit tonight

i find it odd that with all the really cool tac folders to choose from they pick a byrd??

not that byrds are bad mind ya, its just an odd choice imho.

i would think they would pick maybe an emerson or a strider, or a BM rukus, a spyderco millie or civilian, but a byrd??

go figure i suppose lol.

I think they're trying to reinforce the fact that pricey tac-folders are not the number one choice among members of the military, but rather the cheapest piece of steel they can pick up at the PX. I'm not sure though, that's just my theory:confused:.

I thought the knife was a miltner-adams folder.
Hard to tell though!

When I first saw the knife on The Unit the first thing that came to mind was a cheap knife I saw on cheaperthandirt.com. So I tried to look it up there but it was no longer on their site.

Anyway, those are some nice knifes on the miltner-adams site. Way overpriced though. I do like their MA-2/II Tactical Neck-Belt Knife however. I may pick one of those up. Anyone have any experience with their products?

i have a pakistani POS that looks very similar lol,

i can think of a lot of lower end knives which imho would be more appropriate than a byrd.

spyderco endura, delica, CRKT M16 (a lot of guys I know in the army pack CRKT M16s), lotsa stuff really.

i still find it odd.

as far as an elite unit as potrayed on the show, why would they pack some el cheapo folder? SS rolex subs & GMTs & emerson custom folders and other custom knives are status symbols in such units as i have always understood it, ernie emerson gives seal team 6 guys knives to try/test out all the time i have heard, strider does the same. oh im sure some guys have cheaper ones but its not because they want to, maybe they just havent got thier tester model yet.

& this is some really elite super dooper bad unit like '6 right? isnt it delta IIRC?

point being it wouldnt be just totally out in left field if someone had a emerson or strider too.

Jonas and Bob Brown both carry some really nice blades, with a nice custom auto in the mix frequently. The guy who had the cheapo is going through tough times, divorce and all, and has been carrying really cheap/issue knives recently.

I've found that all the characters have a signature knife. Jonas carries custom autos, Bob carries benchmades, Gerhard carries a cheapo/issue, and the other two have used fairbairn-sykes daggers, although I think only once. I'm just hoping a Severtech variant shows up, what with Spartan being a E.L. Haney production as well.

I am sure some folks out there do have them I guess, but of the handful of guys that I know of family and friends, who i know 100% have been in Spec. Ops., I have yet to see one use a $300+ folder.

Most carry knives that are not that much different than regular folks carry.

well i have seen some and heard of others that do carry higher end stuff,, believe me not all carry issue stuff, thats simply not true, especially in a elite of the elite unit, like i said they get lotsa freebies so price isnt an issue.

lotsa regular folks carry $100+ knives too.

Some days I just have to be contrary, and I apologize in advance for any toes I am about to step on. Here is a screen cap of the knife Mac used in the van early in the episode. Try as I might, I can't make it out to be either CE or a Byrd.

Cleaned them up a bit, I'm not sure what it is now, does look more like a Maserin 250/T.

So, did anyone catch the knife used by Mack Gerhardt last night? When he was cutting up the sheets inside the house where they were holed up.

Saw it, ain't got the faintest idea what it was! Big wide bladed sucker for a folder though!

I was trying to get a good look myself, but couldn't. Now I have a reason to upgrade to a 60" plasma and HD - I have to see the knives on The Unit better!

Off topic, they didn't really kill him last night, did they? And I hate the dancing in the gentleman's club storyline. Really hate it.

I could be wrong, and probably am, but it looked like they were using a couple of Kershaw’s last night. I think Mack was using a Junkyard Dog and Jonas a Needs Work (when he was cutting off the guy’s shirt). But like I said, I could just be pulling this out of my ass, the scenes with knives are so quick.

Once again there were at least two blades featured in last night's episode. That fixed blade was very impressive, and I don't really have that much interest in fixed blades since they aren't what I need/want to edc. One of the autos or at least an assisted made an appearence as well last night. Seems like the knives are getting more and more camera time lately -very cool. I wonder if there may be a writer lurking here someplace. If so, great work!

I love this place. I'm watching an old show and wonder what knife someone is using and found it on here :)
