Knife Sleeve

You mean a girly knife purse? :p Yes, other companies make them. Case makes a nice little suede pouch, and Sharpshooter makes a bunch of different ones. Sharpshooter makes the nice slip case that comes with the Scagel/GEC Fruitports.

Carrying a girly knife purse is frowned upon by many (most?) traditional knife guys. However, a real man doesn't care what other people think about what he does or does not carry in his pockets. :)

A good point in both cases.... Im not sure if i would use one even if I did get it. I was more curious than anything.

I use one every once in a while. When I feel like carrying more than one knife in a pocket, and one of those knives is pearl or something else especially delicate and fancy. There's nothing manly about banging up a nice knife needlessly, to my mind.

You don't happen to have a copy of Mr Bose's letter concerning them do you?
:D

I truly wish I did. That would mean that I owned a Tony Bose knife, which unfortunately, I do not (yet). I "make do" with his Case collaborations. I have seen pictures of the letter in question though. Hilarious! :D

That is close to my line of thought, I have one or two that I would like to keep mint but still desire to carry them and use them (after all what good is a non user). As for the rest i still want them nice but scratches and scuffs (when in reason) only add to character

What did it say? I have seen Tony Bose knives and they are exceptional, I would probably keep a Bose knife in a "knife purse" (mainly because of the cost of one), but what is the makers opinion?

Tony has a waiver. It's posted here some place but I can't seem to find it. I'm looking.

I have a few but don't use them much to protect the knives. I mostly used them to help keep the knife oriented the way I like. For example, I hate it when a large knife goes horizontal. I've been carrying single spring knives <3.5" the last few months so its been less of an issue. Now, if I carry something bigger like a GEC trapper, I put it in a different pocket stuffed with keys/wallet/etc that help keep it vertical. A single spring large knife still has a tendency to go horizontal though :(.

I knew someone would beat me to it.:D

LOL hmm i am amused and not at all deterred from the fact that If I owned a Bose knife I would use a sleeve. No way could I drop that much money and not keep the knife in as good of shape as possible while still using it.

Tony scares me. If I had one of his knives I would follow his instructions on it's use and carry it exactly how he says to. I would not want to make him angry.

If I had a "real" Tony Bose knife, I would under no circumstances carry it in a girly knife purse. I'd just carry it in a pocket with nothing else in it. Since Tony has explicitly said that he doesn't want his knives carried in a purse, to do so would be disrepectful. For the record, I've never carried any of his collaborations in a purse either. Or even any of the regular production knives he's designed, now that I think of it.

However, I did carry my Tribal Spear in a pouch on a belt. ONCE. It wasn't a "fanny pack" per se, but similar, and would probably have been declared "girly" if Mr. Bose had seen it. The pack broke and I lost the knife. The first and only time I carried the thing in that manner. Such is the power of Tony Bose. I consider myself appropriately chastened.
