Knife storage

storage for folders?
individually ziplocked
tossed into ammo can.
and even add a padlock
most toddlers up to about 5 years
( at times even older)
will find it hard to open the clip lock
and yank out the top lid.
only worry is accidentally dropping the
steel box on feet.

I like that. I like that a lot. But, I would stress every time I saw an empty slot because I would think I lost something. Then it would turn up between the cushions on the couch two weeks later.

Lol, I can totally relate brother. I keep the plucked-out foam in a small box and replace the empty slots if I know it’ll be empty for a while. The things this hobby will have you doing :rolleyes:o_O:D

The empty slots on my rack remind me to put the days EDC back as I unload the pockets when I get home;)

My wife gave this to me for my birthday last year.
She got it at Harbor Freight for about $70.

It's all wood and has a door that slides out from the bottom to lock the entire chest ( under the last drawer). The door is felt lined and can be slid out and used as a work surface.
All the drawers are felt lined and the two top drawers have wood dividers

I've got the same one for my knives. Only one problem, it's full up already...

HIi Chip.

I don't see any fixed blades. How about a picture of your fixed blades?
There's the pretty ones in the coffee table display case...

And then my disorganized wall o'knives...

One of them is in the closet in which I hold candy, meds, old boxes of phones and tablets.
Other one has oiled blade wrapped in cloth and is in the drawer where I keep protein bars, bubble gum packs and condoms.

I only have 2 knives so storage isn't such an issue.

OK, I'll bite. What are your two knives? What is the next one you plan to purchase?

Recon Tanto and Warcraft Tanto, next one will be Real Steel Connector in D2 (drop point version).

I think that I have one Tanto left in my collection. A CRKT M16.
I keep it around as a beater knife.

Beyond that, I personally don’t have much use for a Tanto any more. But I do like the looks of them.

It is nice to see that somebody has a need for Tantos. I am more of a DP kind of guy these days.

I use ZT's knife bags (not sure if I can link to it.) I like how heavily padded it is. Generally, I'll keep pricier individual knives in silk bags or thick plastic bags, and then put them into the individual sleeves in my ZT bags. I believe there are identical Kershaw-labeled versions of these too. It's a little ironic as I do not own any ZTs, and I have a ton of Kershaw's, but I have ZT bags. These bags are a bit less compact that the cases from some other companies but are significantly more padded--if you are putting them in and pulling them out of a safe often or moving them around often, the padding is a nice touch. Each has 18 slots, but you can get multiple less expensive and smaller knives in a single slot if you so wish.

Depending on the nature of your collection, I would also recommend consideration of a B-rate safe or higher.

I used the Recon Tanto as a scraper, prybar, had to stab buckets with it to cut out their bottoms, I also had to stab and cut out parts of tires or sheets of plastic, my Recon Tanto is mostly used as a chopper at home tho, I was carrying it at work while I worked at construction site, and I also used them to penetrate through large joints when butchering meat, cut ribs and so on.

Anyways, that kind of use and abuse this 60€ SK-5 Recon Tanto has took would probably break lots of other knives, at least break their tips off.

And I found the Tanto tip more useful in industrial setting than any drop point. Secondary point of the blade is also very useful when I want to start cutting into material like sheet of rubber.

So I love the design of Tantos, and they also suit my needs very well :)
