Hi all- On holiday here in the UK. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any knife stores or makers I may be able to avail myself of while over here. I am staying in Solihull but can travel for a good destination. Any and all help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Patrick

Welcome to the UK:)
I am also currently here.......in London. You are 3 weeks late for the UK Blade Show unfortunately......
In my opinion the best shop in the UK is http://www.heinnie.com/ they are in Barry, South Wales. That would be a big road trip for you.

Otherwise there is a small shop in London near Piccadilly Circus, AZ Electrical Hardware, 60 Brewer St. They have a small but nice selection of knives. Be aware you will pay around 30% more than the US.
I also suggest that if you buy anything you have it well wrapped and tranport it in a backpack or other secure bag.

Feel free to PM me if you need any help with anything

Have fun........:)

Steven

there are a few UK custom makers around, mostly catering to the bushcraft and outdoors market. if you are after tactical knives, I suspect you might want to try a different country.
off the top of my head I can think of:
dave budd http://www.davebudd.com/
bernie garland http://www.berniegarlandknives.com/

production wise there are a couple of companies still around in sheffield, but I'm not sure if they have any storefront type facilites anymore.

there is also a forum dedicated to UK knives, especially customs, called "British Blades"
not sure about the forum rules for linking to them though.

I've ordered from Heinnie a couple of times, and allways recieved excellent and very rapid service. I've yet to hear a bad word against them, except that some of their prices are a little more than they could be (although the included P&P and good service often more than make up for this)
