thanks mike it was a great knife...i think the ones that i make like it in the future im going to change the handle design it was a coffin handle and it rolled around in my hand too much for me. and the pic is AFTER i flattend it back out

I wqas wondering what handle design you used. It looked like it was harming your performance in the chopping test.

Face Shield, Heavy apron.

Man, I was just waiting for you to get a face full of shards. Snapping steel can be frightening (I have fractured literally tons of steel, including tungsten carbide anvils, at pressures ranging up to 1 million + PSI, so I have seen some evil shrapnel).

Especially with the edge still being sharp. Scares the crap out of me.

Great results on that chopper. There is a reason so many makers use 5160 for hard use knives.

I made my first knife out of 5160 with a ghetto back yard heat treat to non magnetic and oil quench and temper in my oven. I picked the steel because it was easier to work by hand (no power tools making my first one. Even the tang pin holes were drilled with a hand crank drill).

Wow! Whatever went into it, the final result was a knockout.

watch my other vids i have one where i talk about how the HT comes into the knife and one of me doing the hardning cycle

thanks guys and i would be more than happy to make you all one close to it in preformance i didnt like the coffin handle on that one is why i offred it up to the gods of bend:)
