I took several of my martial art students out for some knife testing Sunday.

We went to a Patient's house(Danny)--who has 80 Acres of land with trees he can not stand.

We had permission to hack the crap out of them..(he wants all of them gone)

Each of us brought along several knives and axes--

Ended up testing 25 different models if I recall

These are some of the photos

Will post more when I get them from Karen

All the men liked the Big Siegle chopper that Charles brought along.
The Battlerat was also well liked.

Almost everyone had a different pick as to what knife felt best and really enjoyed the abilility to test several against each other.

I put each student in front of a tree with 3-4 knives of the approx same size in front of them on the ground and had them test each one before moving to the next station.

I will post the remianing photos when I get them.

What exactly did those trees do to you?

TF

???

Not sure what you mean.

According to the landowner--they soak up all the water and make the land totally useless for livestock grazing.Landowners hate them with a passion.

They usually uproot them with a Bulldozer .

Yup they are worthless hackberry trees. They are right up there with mesquite on the worthless scale but at least you can BBQ with mesquite.

It's been a long time since I've looked at a picture and laughed out loud, but these did it for me, thanks!!! :D Seeing all those knives laid out on a sheet, I love it! Can I move down and be one of your students too? That must have been a BLAST!

It was a BLAST

I usually do not take that many students at one time

Chance of injury goes way up if you do.

Looks like a great time 'Ol Bud..Wish I could of been there :)
I like the Bowie on the right side in the middle.

A hackberry is the cockroach of trees and just as hard to kill. Nothing dulls a chainsaw faster. How did those knives hold up to that wood?

i like the bowie on the right side in the middle.

that's a blackjack moran bowie

not sure who made that axe--i'll ask charles

the wood in those trees after you get down past the bark--is very hard

feels like chopping stone would feel is the best i can describe

I get sick of the tree-whacking threads around here, but I gotta agree about the hackberries. They're miserable, wretched things. They grow up through every chain link fence in central Texas, because the seeds get shit out by birds.

Didn't somebody suggest Dr. Bill for the chopper challenge tester?:D

Very interesting Bill, you have some great knives. I especially like that one in the top right of the very first picture...you know who to get a hold of if you ever decide to let it go ;).
