Knife testing--big scale

If they are that hard, are they any good for making walking sticks or firewood?

Not really, the wood has a tendency to open up big cracks and splits when it dries. It does burn pretty hot, but not clean.

I'll sometimes see pretty good sparks throwing off when chainsawing the stuff. Someone told me it picks up sand as it grows.
 
Very interesting Bill, you have some great knives. I especially like that one in the top right of the very first picture...you know who to get a hold of if you ever decide to let it go ;).
