Knife testing -Hiking trip,10 May 09

Looks good wiliamm. Interestingly, I came to a very similar conclusion as you comparing the SOD and rd-9. In this case, they were about equal in chopping ability despite the extra 2.5" of the RD-9. However, I did feel that the tip control afforded by the clip point was better. What were you thoughts comparing the two on detail work?

I just read your review(which is EXCELLENT:thumbup::thumbup:)

The Ranger has better tip control-Much easier to control

Again--your review was EXCELLENT!!!

Hi,

This is my first post since becoming a paid member. This thread got me because I am searching for a friend for a general small/mid sized fixed blade for general outdoors and can be used for cleaning fish.

I know nothing about cleaning fish, but I am learning about knives. For myself, I am mostly into folders, and know very little about fixed blades.

But what really got me, seriously, is Zeus! This is my dream dog. I am moving soon and thinking about getting a gsd. I saved up the money for one, now have to find a breeder and take the plunge. Great looking dog.

But, can I have opinions on what knife to look at for the general use/fishing that I described above? If this needs to be moved to another thread, let me know. I am new here.

Thanks,

Viper

Great review and pics!! Looks like you had a lot of fun out there. Great to see people out using the their blades like they should. Thanks for sharing.
