Im looking for a knife with a special feature that will make it stand out of my collection. This is going to be my edc folder so keep that in mind. The special feature could be anything from a rainbow coating to a odd blade shape. Im not looking for anything in particular just a not so average knife. It has to have a decent blade steel thats the only requirement. no 420 or 440 or 8cr14mov or anything like that. o and i love damascus if you can find it that cheap

not sure what you already have, or exactly what is a decent blade steel (esp for $60).

You might have to shop to stay under the $60 limit, but:

  • Benchmade Mini Griptilian - available in many colors
  • Byrd Flatbyrd - $20 or so now - looks like a big folding steel credit card
  • CRKT Rollock - junk, but has a neat locking mechanism
  • Kershaw Needs Work - cheap, different, assisted open, comes in colors
  • Kershaw Rainbow Leek - you said it
  • Spyderco Cricket - unlike anything else
  • Spyderco Rescue - lots of colors, different blade shape than most
  • Spyderco Tasman Salt - yellow handles, hawksbill blade

so far the rainbow leek would be my first pick but what colors does the needs work come in?

Kershaw Skyline Damascus can be had for less than $50. Sounds like exactly what you are looking for :D

Kershaw Speed Bump with aluminum handles.
Model is 1595ALBLK

Usually can be found for under $60.
Solid knife, comfortable handle shape (though you might find the akulon or G10 versions more comfortable). Unusual blade shape, and unusual, but very strong ambidextrous lock (stud lock). Sandvik 13C26 steel blade.

And Hardheart's ET suggestion is a good one, they don't come much more unusual than the ET.

Anything from Benchmade, Kershaw, and Spyderco at that price range will be fantastic.

Other companies like CRKT, Cold Steel, and etc are usually overpriced and bad quality control.

Well, check the Buck website, under web deals, they have some Buck Sirius with custom type graphics for $30.

You can always try getting a reg BM, Spy, Kershaw, etc and then try to find some custom slabs.

For example, grab a Boker Trance by Chad Los Banos ($25-30) and then contact Potterma (his username here) to see what he can do for some custom G10 slabs for it.

Check on the Sebenza- extreme tolerances and has a bushing, meaning you can screw the screws all the way down and the blade will still have perfect tension.

How about a waved Endura? I don't know if you consider the wave a special feature, but otherwise it matches all of your conditions, and lots of people use it for their EDC.

Kershaw Tyrades have a composite blade similar to the junkyard dog, but not as tacky. More Samurai sword and less Sci-fi.
I would have gotten it if it wasn't assisted opening, which is somewhat more restricted in MA.

What about the Kershaw R.A.M.? It's got a kind of funky blade design with that horn near the tip and a flipper that works really well. Plus it has a unique locking system. They also offer it with a black coating. I picked one up a couple days ago and I'm really liking it so far.
