knife with special features for under $60

Kershaw Tyrades have a composite blade similar to the junkyard dog, but not as tacky. More Samurai sword and less Sci-fi.
I would have gotten it if it wasn't assisted opening, which is somewhat more restricted in MA.

Yeah, I went above the OP's $60 limit with the Junkyard Dog, otherwise I would have recommended the even more expensive Tyrade also. Which I happen to like better also.

+1:thumbup: on the RAM,plus you'll have enough left over to get yourself a cool BYRD or Boker SubCom series.

the kershaw ET is the one that is really "out there" designwise and fits the cost constraint.

i dont like either the RAM or the et sorry guys... and btw i think BlazenGem might be slightly retarted

I agree with others here this is a really cool knife. The flipper mechanism is really fast -- it just snaps open. I love the blade shape and the lock is interesting as well -- kind of like an Axis lock.

Another knife that looks similar to the R.A.M. is the Boker Trance. The latter is about half the price which is a plus. However, online reviews make it seem like the flipper needs help from wrist motion to open the blade. Is this true? The R.A.M. snaps open with just light finger pressure. I like that feature, and have a Kershaw Zing on the way as well.

I like the look of the Boker Trance but not if the flipper is not fully functional.

Thanks.

The flipper on the Trance is not able to open the blade all the way without a wrist flick.

However it does have rather large thumbstuds that work very well.

In any case, while the Trance is an absolutely EXCELLENT knife (especially for the price), I would not say that there is anything special about it.
