"Knife Works". Awesome company.

Not for International orders they are not: They require a $100 minimum for international orders, and (at the time of my useless ordeal) two previous transactions before you can order with cc alone (now one?)... Since none of the other similar online retailers required any of this, you are not exactly primed to check all their numerous restrictive international shipping policies -and can easily find your credit card depleted for 5 days for nothing- , of which policies the listing below is just a part...:

The following is required for all International Orders:

•$100.00 minimum order before shipping and handling are applied.
•Additional weight and Insurance fee will be added to the order and charged once the order has been processed. If paying with a credit card, additional charges will automatically be taken from your account.
•All new customers will be asked to pay for their order by Western Union or PAY PAL for the first order. Please choose “MONEY ORDER” at the checkout. Our Sales Rep. will email you the final total that needs to be paid.
•For existing customers who have not placed an order with us within a year, or using a different credit card from previous orders will be required to send an original photo of the front and the back side of the new credit card. This requirement may be adjusted by our Sales Rep.

I went to Knifecenter instead, and everything has gone without any of this hassle since, including low value orders...

Gaston

Hi Gaston,

I have a different experience, and I'd advise you to email them directly if you plan to deal with them in the future.
general policies has to be displayed, but sometimes, direct contact helps alot.
I've found them very helpful with intl. customers (quite rare in the US),
had to send copies of ID and CC, for the 1st order, and it goes smoothly since then.
They have very fair rates on UPS international (due to quantities, I guess).
Amber is very, very, very helpful (on my last order, a sharpener I wanted was out of stock, she found one in display, and sent it, to avoid the order being stuck).
Nothing to say about the $100 minimum order, always been above (far above...don't tell my wife...)

hope this helps

Laurent

I was shocked and pleased by how fast they got the order to me and the communication was excellent. I now go to their site first when looking for most knives.

They have decent exclusives and a good stock on hand. I've only used them once though.

Way back when, I ordered a Sharpmaker and RC (ESEE) 4 and they added extra shipping w/ out informing me. I emailed them and they ignored me. I went over their shipping policy at the time and it stated nothing about extra cost to ship to Alaska. Coincidentally, they changed the policy within a few days of my email...

Wasn't a huge deal, they added an extra $5.71 onto my shipping. However, I haven't done business w/ them since due to my experience.

I have a problem w/ people nickel and diming when they ship via USPS to AK when it's in a flat rate box. Plenty of other businesses out there to choose from that don't do that and will actually respond to an email.

I just made my first knife purchase from "Knife Works". I purchased four of their exclusive Ontario Rat 1 knives. Really unique knives only available from them. Lightning fast shipping and they kept me posted on my order all the way. Good people. I will sure buy from them again.

I have been considering making a purchase from them but can I ask what makes their knives "exclusive"?
Why is the Rat 1 from them any different than what I can pick up elsewhere?

They usually come in different scale colors or blade steels.
