KnifeArt Shoppers

I emailed a year or so ago and never heard a word. I researched a few threads here on the owners and it explained why. I decided not call and shop elsewhere.

I've bought from KnifeArt before and the experience was very positive. Bear in mind that this is a small shop with a limited staff. Blade 2017 is coming up in just a few days and many vendors are likely in transit.

In terms of CRK knives with wood inlay, I buy those strictly from Knives Ship Free because Derrick posts a picture of each model he has in stock. The knife you see is the knife you get. I like that especially with wood inlays that have unique properties from knife to knife.

My very first CRK was a KSF knife, so I absolutely hear you there. They just didn't have what I was looking for in stock this time, but I'm still looking around and may grab a thuya burl Mnandi from them if all else fails simply because the pictures taken are so fantastic it's perfect for picky people like me.

Can you elaborate just a tiny bit on the owners? ( Not trying to start anything just honestly curious at this point from all the mixed responses. )

Which threads? I performed a search for Larry Connelley and found either neutral or positive remarks.

It was over a year ago. I did not save the threads nor do I really recall the details.

I do not want to guess at the details and cause concern or create slander.

I am not trying to give them a bad review, only stating my experience.

But without me intending to press you ( and I don't consider a customers review slander ) it was something that obviously had to bother you enough to avoid doing business with them? Such as a communication or PR issue?

It had to be something if it completely put you off enough you wouldn't call.

Good grief.

I'm not going to guess as I do not recall the specifics. To guess would create slander, not a review.

Well good grief with more grief on top forgive me KBA but it is odd to chime in with your previous statement only to end with " well I had no idea why " after your statement. I was hoping some generalities could re-grief your memory, apparently not. Have a good day.

There is a subforum for complaints and questions about service "Good Bad & Ugly". You should request to have this moved there.

Knifeart was less than helpful to me, refusing to check blade centering on a 500 dollar knife I was attempting to purchase. I went elsewhere and got taken care of extremely well.

It really wasn't intended to be a good bad & ugly forum and was originally just a simple communications issue brought on by possible technological issues or lack of communication, what it transformed into was out of my control.

So out of curiosity I had a glance through the GBU for Knife Art threads.

Seems like buyers demanding a concierge style experience where Knife Art is told to go through all their knives and find the best one for said buyer don't come away happy. It also seems other prickly personality folks clash badly with the personality of the folks running Knife Art.

So if you think you're that kind of guy I'd say find a brick and mortar store where you can go hands on with the hardware and find the one and only that suits.

I'm not sure if I'm prickly but I certainly am picky when it comes to knives 400+. This is why I've had good experience with KnivesShipFree only because I can see ( with ease ) exactly what knife has what flaws etc.

I'm an avid Amazon shopper and the attitude kind of is over there ( and I know I'm comparing David to Goliath here ) lose a few bucks here and there to make the customer happy ( or at least go out of your way to try your best. ) KSF has been the closest to this service I've seen online in the knife world, I've heard great things about GPKnives and a few other stores.

Anyway thanks for taking the time Danke42.

Back in 12 or 13 I missed the carbon fiber slab on the insingo I was wanting quite badly... I called knifearts customer service line to ask when they would expect the next shipment of knives. A Mr Conley answered the phone and after my question said " next time you call buy something".
My greed for the knife led to the purchase but that is the last one I'll make from knifeart.

Uh-oh. Scratch KA off my list.

All I asked for is if, they had a knife of a particular model with good blade centering and it was too much trouble for them to say. I called another dealer and they said yes, it's perfect on centering, as well as lockup. They even held it for me, while I paypaled them the cash. Someone wanting to sell a 500 dollar knife, is generally polite and helpful, in most cases. If not too bad for them.

I'm going to guess that it's because they now have tens of thousands of emails daily asking what spinners are in stock and which one spins the longest. :D

I'll never spend a single cent with Knife-art. I sent them a super polite email once just asking for a quick look over on a $600 knife before they posted it to make sure it was centered and no obvious defects, i did this since im in Oz and if i receive a defective knife i'm basically screwed. We have huge wait times and silly customs and it costs to send there and back. You know what i got in reply from the guys there? A snobby attitude email saying it's not his job to check this stuff and he isn't making any promises. Nice job in losing potentially a couple thousand dollars in repeat purchases knife-art! Too cool for school they are. Happily gave the money to a dealer who gives a crap about gaining return customers. And i'm not the only one, another mate here in Oz also inquired about something and got a snobby email back.
