I ordered a couple Becker from these guys nine days ago. That's six business days not including the day of the order. Their website originally said that an item was in stock, which changed to 3-5 business days when I placed the order. I called today, and magically they had a shipment in. They asked if I wanted to ship today, and when asked about the delay, tried to tell me that it hasn't been five business days yet. I asked about expedited shipping since they couldn't get my order to me in the time promised; nope. I was told I could take that option if I wanted to pay for it. This kind of delay has happened every single time when dealing with knifecenter.

Long story short; if you want your knife to arrive in weeks instead of days, go with knifecenter. If you want terrible customer service, go with knifecenter. As I said, this has happened more than once. And yes, I hope they lose a little business when people read this and observe their poor business practices.

I have had them ship quite slow as well. Took about 10 days for me. I have had better experiences elsewhere. I do think about the long wait I had when considering knifecenter for future orders. I would order form them again, if the price is right and knowing that it will take longer than it should. Members here have generally been the fastest at shipping.

The only reason I ordered was the sale on the BK5 and BK15. They took quite a huge amount off. Lesson learned, however.

KnifeCenter has been consistently slow in my experience - that being said, they've always been accurate about their estimates so I can plan accordingly.

Yup. I was tempted by those great prices as well. Got so many blades that already fill those rolls so I couldn't justify it. For the price they had them at and even knowing the wait time on their shipping, I would have ordered one had I needed.

Those newsletters from all the sites come in handy sometimes. ;)

So as you place your order, someone got the knife before you, thus you see the 3-5 days wait. You call on the sixth day and it has arrived but you want FREE expedited shipping. They don't accomodate, becasue at those prices...

Good prices lead to shortages. It's a fact of life. If you don't get your flavor of the day immediately, it's not really an emergency. They did you no harm other than not letting you scam them into free expedited shipping.

I have been dealing with them for at least 15 years. They have been backordered but came through within a reasonable time. If someone says 5 days and it's 6, why get mad? At your job, do you always get it there or done exactly on time or does "life happen"?

No, I called on the ninth day. I was then informed that it was 3-5 business days, which is not what it said on the website under the knife. They admitted they made a mistake about that. They also tried to convince me it had not yet been five business days since the 26th. How it is a scam to go by the rules a company sets for itself? They are the ones who monitor their site, change the availability, and set the standards for how long an item takes to ship. When they consistently fail those standards that they, not the customer, put in place, it is bad business. Simple as that. It has happened with every order I've made with them. Did you even read the OP, or did you already have your opinions and assumptions formulated regardless of fact?

As a matter of fact, at my job we don't say "oh well, f*** it" when a customer has a complaint. We address the issue, then we have everyone sign paperwork to make sure they realize they are personally liable for anything that slips through the cracks. That includes in-house departments which are also considered "customers" although they are part of the same company.

In fact, I don't know of very many companies that won't make it right when they're obviously in the wrong. The customer is not always right, but when a company starts ignoring the standards it sets for itself, it has failed.

I read a lot of good things about knifecenter and decided to pull the trigger. Bad decision. I had to order 3 times (first time they told me they didn't ship swords to my country, I can understand that but they made me wait almost a week after checkout to know. Second time they charged me the wrong amount of money and asked me to contact the bank to cancel the process, another week lost. In the end I redid my order ensuring everything was alright and easy to prepare, ship and pay. Not only did I wait another week and lose the chance to give the knives as a birthday gift, I also had to pay 60 extra darn dollars to get the package through). To sum up, I am utterly disappointed and I waited, paid and discussed way more than I consider right and acceptable. Bad experience, not gonna try a fourth time

If your order was placed on 10/26 (Sunday), today (11/3) is the sixth business day. Technically, your knives should have shipped on Friday, and they shipped a day later than their committed window. If I recall correctly, for backordered items, their site says "Typically ships within 3-5 business days". For hot on-sale items, the stock does move really fast before the online inventory has been updated -- these are not "real-time" systems. Maybe someone else placed an order exactly when you did, thus changing the status to 3-5 business days.

On the contrary, I typically feel happy to have scored a deal than rant over a day or two delay in shipping. In my experience, KC has been darn accurate every time on the shipping details - their 3-5 days, or 5-7 days are spot on, give a day here and there. Very few dealers come this close to certainty on out of stock items.

You keep saying business days. The website says "3-5 days". I guess everyone should assume business days, but that is not what their website says under the knife. So, it has been nine days, without any word. Yes, I should be thankful for people who can't keep to their own schedule. Totally. Also, they said they'd ship today, four hours ago. I have yet to see anything indicating that they have done so, even after trying to convince me that they weren't past the five day period.

To the contrary, I have never had this issue with other large knife sellers. They ship within the window. That is part of business integrity.

I ordered a BK15 from Knifecenter on 10/24 right after I received the e-mail about the Becker clearance. It shipped the same day and I received it on 10/27. I have read about other people having issues with Knifecenter in the past, I for one have dealt with them on multiple occasions and never had any issues including preorders.

There so bad you're still buying a knife from them? You're like the guy who asks the judge to have mercy on him when sentencing him for murdering his parents...because he is an orphan.

You got a great price and if the knives arrive in satisfactory condition, then great score. It sucks to wait for items that we really want, but remember how slow the mail used to work before internet? I recommend a deep breath. If you don't want to deal with them in the future, that is your choice, but if they aren't ripping you off on money or product, it isn't worth the stress.

I'm with you. What I've done with the last 6 knives I've bought to avoid this, albeit different stores, I call in the morning when they open and ask if they can ship it out that day. They always have so far. But 9 days, that'd kill me.

{My knifecenter story}
I bought a knife from knifecenter the satin finish was scratched to hell. Called told them the problem they told me to mail it back and I'd be sent out another. I asked them to please make sure it was not scratched b/c this was a gift for my father. Second one I received all scratched up. Call them again " or we are so sorry we will ask you to send it in again and we will send you out another with a free gift. So finally I receive knife #3 with no marks and a free made in chine paracord bracelet worth $2.
And they didn't even refund me my total amount of shiping I paid sending it back to them....So unless they are having a really good sale they are not getting my business not to mention Amazon or ebay prices always seems much cheaper

I've had several good experiences with them. You probably missed the FAQ section. It does say it takes 3-5 business days for an item to ship, then you have to figure 2-4 more for the first class USPS shipping time.
That's a bit longer than what most of us are used to but they do spell it out clearly. I'd rather take the free shipping and extended wait over the flat $10 or so shipping fees some companies charge.
I hope you're able to relax and enjoy the great deal you got on those knives.
