KnifeHead..NO WAY! and other Blade activity.

IMO, the BFC slippie crew kicked some serious "drawing" ass this year ! :D

Got to meet a bunch of the folks that hang here and I was the prettiest one of them all. :p

The slippie offerings this year. . . . .fantabulous ! The slippie maker world is getting bigger and the makers are passionate about their work ! An up-and-comer to keep an eye peeled for. . . .some dude named Kerry.

I hope Mikey is selling a lot of titanium thongs, and that Gig and Vince get to ride in the Bastidmobile trunk rocker. :D

Man, you don't know how painful it was ! :D

I learned an important lesson. . . .there a quite a few forumites that have Superman-like qualities ! Talk about faster than a speeding light on snagging slippies. Dayum. :D Next year, I'm bring a club and and the largest chunk of Kryptonite I can find. :D

Ok, so here is what I learned from this year's Blade Show...it's not about the knives, it's about the people (ok, well it's kinda about the knives). Elliot, Kerry, Mike, Charlie, Jim, Gus, Vince, James, Tony, Randy, Riad, Reese, John, Mike, Ryu, Shigeru (his wife rocks) others I'm too tired to remember right now and all applicable significant others -- it was a pleasure seeing each of you and the random acts of kindness I observed were enormous (e.g., Riad at Joel's drawing).

So here is my bag of goodies I took home. I have another in the works and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it because it is a doozie:

1. My "Cake" from Blade -- The "Orange Crush Nut Buster" from Mr. Knifehead himself -- let me tell you guys -- his stuff is SWEET. All of the other stuff below is just icing on the Cake.

2) R. Bose BP

3) Chamblin Peanut

4) Some great natural amber stag that will be shipped to Wilfred Works one of these days

5) Some Bose blanks so I can see just how uncreative I can be.

6) A T. Bose desk knife...not pictured b/c Kerry is hooking me up with a dandy sheath

You know, I have been here just sitting and thinking, the REAL highlight of the show was meeting the makers for the first time, shaking their hand, and getting to put faces to names on the forum, No longer do I have to look at the avatars of Mike Robuck and wonder if that is him, I can ignore the avatars, because all I will see his real face and remember the kindness he and all the others showed me. As a newbie to blade, I was treated like part of the family, I owe a lot of it to SheBop, as everyone knows her and a friend of hers is a friend of them. So walking in, I had friends everywhere, met a lot of them, sent photos to her as the show progressed with my ugly mug and several of her friends. I am grateful to know this gal, I am sorry she could not make it. Blade would not be Blade with out the friendships, perhaps next year, I will catch up with Vince and the Gigster, Riad and a couple of others. Thank all of you Knife Khnuts for showing me the meaning of friendship. The scores of any knife is not worth 1/2 of the folks I got to meet, I would have been content to meet and get nothing. A Big thanks to Sheila for making that possible.
Jim

Friends helping Friends, Jim...
Thank you for the kind words...I am deeply touched...
Because of all the emails & phone calls, I felt like I was there with you all!
Stay safe & take good care of each other! You Guys Rock & I love you!

I bailed out today, but, man, the last few days have been rockin'!

I only brought two knives back, my wharncliffe trapper from Kerry and a stag swayback from Mike Z., but both of them are great.

Thursday night's CEing and CFing in Tony's room was sensory overload. I bet I handled the drawing knives at least three times each. Jerry Halfrich and Mike Z. also brought their knives by the room and Tony had some of his vintage knives on hand.

While getting a Bose knife would have been fun, I can't express how great it was meeting the forum members at Blade. Riad, Vince, LarryM, Jim Todd, Kerry and his better half, Elliott and his better half, Blades&Grace, Gus (not a nicer guy at the show) GigOne, Waynorth (thanks for the history lessons) John Hanlon, RandyW, those Bose guys, Campbell, my roomie James "Scuba Man" Culpepper and if I forgot someone I'm sorry but I have to board my last flight now.

Blade 09 will be even better.
