knifehead uses pot...news at 11!

Thanks for putting it back up. I have been looking at setting something like this up and trying this new Ultraseal that is out on the market now.

I missed this thread back in its day somehow. Very interesting. I have always wondered what kind of dyes the old companies used to get the rich deep colors on bone. I want to try this method if I could ever find that old recipe. Culpepper seems to have it down and aint talking.

Kerry i was looking for your tutorials on your website but didn,t see them.I would sure like to see them !

Are they there and i missed them ( very possible ) or are the some where else.

Thanks Bryce

Kerry I've had pretty good luck with antler by boiling the antler and going directly ,
immediatley from the boil to regular leather dye (spirit based, not oil like I use on bone)
however the colors ain't always what you hoped for.

Just curious, but has anyone experimented with a MINIMUM pressure that will achieve good results? It seems like if a lower pressure works, you could save money by buying a cheap garden sprayer, and putting a pressure gauge on the fitting where the hose goes. You could then pump it up by hand, and you wouldn't need a compressor. One drawback would be the narrow mouth of the sprayer, as opposed to the paint pot.

Thanks,
Dave
