Knifemakers Guild Knives done. Wish me luck!

I'm still relatively new here - what does it mean to "be in" at the knife makers guild?

Andy, I can't imagine anyone who deserves it more! You make an extraordinary knife and you make many a week at the same level of attention and quality!

When are you going to post pics of all the knives? I would really like to see them, and I bet that I am not alone.

He going to sell most of them off with a portion going to super Ben iirc
So I'm guessing there will be a thread with most off them soon. I think he said he made one of them for himself though

This may have been discussed previously some where's in the forum, I would like to see which knife Andy uses (since it was mentioned above he had one for himself), his own or from another maker. Comgrat Andy On getting the Guild knives done.

Congratulations Andy! This is some well deserved recognition for your fine work. Thank you for all the beautiful tools I've had the pleasure to own and the ones I don't yet.

I know he has an older Recluse he uses regularly in the winter months, but from what I have seen his "edc" varies because carrying and using any new model is how he refines the design.

Lately I've been using a Toboggan around the house. It hangs on the pegboard above my bench.

Thanks Andy. Take care and tell all the people who help make your knives in he shop thank you as well, sounds like you have a good crew.

Andy, I know you have a preference towards Black Locust and Black Ash, do you ever make yourself a Fiddleback from those woods?

Yes actually. Both. AND, coincidentally, for the first Guild inspection two years ago I made two knives from a very special piece of Black Locust that Carl Rechsteiner gave me for that inspection. I gave one, a Bear Paw, to Ken, who had just come aboard. And the other, a Sneaky Pete, I kept and still own. I carried and dinged that one up substantially. That wood is still my favorite. I would imagine outside myself and Carl, very few other makers would use it. Though, if they had these pieces Carl gave me they might. (Too bad for them!)

Sorry I'm late to the gate Andy, but had no doubt you'd pass inspection. You make a very fine knife - Welcome to the Guild.
Been hiding out at my "Laffin Place" for awhile to get away from everything - let's just say Life has been very complex lately. If I can find them before TR, I stashed away two more chunks of that special cut Black Locust for you somewhere in the shop.
Got something I want to show you when you get to TR this weekend. Not all that purty but a drooler just the same.

For all you Discovery Channel - Moonshiner watchers, keep a close eye on Huck and Mark X. Huck's the Bigun' and he's wearing a suitably big knife made by some crazy injun with a hammer. Mark will be wearing a smaller hunter/skinner/bird-trout combo later this season. Got to meet producer and camera crew last week (all but one has a C Rex blade to carry around). Not a bad bunch of Yanks.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of you folks at TR this weekend. Safe travels.

Congratulations Andy. Having watched your progress for a few years I must say it is very well deserved.

Thank you Carl. I plan to try to come on Friday.

I've a couple ton of black locust. . .holding up my hop yard. . I'd love a BL handled knife.

It is a very interesting wood, the old timers say that a black locust pole will wear out two holes:)

That's cool. When I got out of the Navy I thought about trying to grow hops to source to the local nano-breweries for a truly local beer in all respects. Did a little research and realized that I didn't know diddly about farming or hops and figured that I could make it work only if I already owned the land and took a long view as I learned. But to lease a field, invest in the infrastructure, and then fail because I over watered or had some bugs would be bad. Also have an aversion to working on ladders which seemed almost incompatible with hop farming.

Please share some pictures!
