I sure would like to observe someone grinding on a blade up close and personal.

I would drive 100 miles to see it....I've seen some videos and done some reading on it, but pretty hard to ask questions that way.

Right now I'm interested in stock removal, and flat and convex grinding.

Thanks,
R

P.S. I'll bring steel!!

Something that pops into my head... How far are you from Escanaba, and what do you have planned for the last weekend of February?

I'm in topinabee, just north of indian river here in michigan. I am a full-time knife and damascus maker. I will be quite busy for the next 2 weeks, but my schedule opens up a bit after that.
Of course it is probably more than 100 miles, but it would be worth it.
Thanks,
Del

I'm in the SE corner of the state,Monroe County...
I sure would like to get up to Escanaba someday and visit with Sharpshooter and BRKT....but I hear there's a lot of snow up that way these days, eh?

I'm stuck in the deep heart of Oklahoma. Escanaba would be a bit of a road trip for me. I still would like to hit a grind in up there sometime. Maybe when I hit the lottery... if there's any money left over from making knives. <grin>

Not sure, but sounds like Del might be offering some time.

I see you're up the road a ways too....but let's keep in touch....

Grind -in?? Did I hear grind -in?? First I've heard of it.....

I'm pretty new here, and not totally sure of the etiquette expected.

BRKT has an open grind in scheduled for the last weekend in Feb. It's not free, but not terribly expensive. From what I've read, included in that price you will get hands on exp with a grinder, help and walk away with a knife you make there.

I won't post links to other forums here, but with a little work, I'm sure you can find your way around.

we might be able to work something out;)

I'm near Jackson... I've got steel if you've got beer. Or if you're not a beer guy, then doughnuts. :D MSCantrell@gmail.com.

(In fact, there are two other makers in Jackson I've been meaning to get together with and haven't. I should send some emails...)

Well, maybe not at the same time...;)

Well heck...we'll have a doughnut-in!!!

I can make it to Jackson in a bit over an hour....including a stop in Blissfield for a couple doughnuts, then a stop at Devils Lake at my favorite beer store.

I'll be emailing ya soon.

I'm in MI but, I'm pretty new at this so I don't think it would be all too interesting to see me grinding away. Lol.
