KnifeNews Readers’ Choice Awards!

I researched every knife, just as if I was going to purchase them. I looked at reviews and at retail listings and then made a decision. I have faith in my choices, but as I said earlier, I think the Hinderer Tri-Way Pivot Systems should be the knife for "4. Best Knife Upgrade 2018"
Okay. Then I think all the knives I own like are better than most on this list as I have not felt the need to replace them. Can you tell us why you think each you have chosen is the best for 2018?

I invest a lot in knives and feel like buying the best knives is in my better interest. Have at least 85 knives at an investment of approx $20,000 so far. I'll be buying knives and firearms until Hell freezes over. The sky's the limit!

When I pass away, my brother and I are giving everything we have to our offspring, and if I have too many to pass down to them I'll truck on down to a US Marine Recruiting Station to give them away to our troops in uniform. Nothing will be traceable and the kids will have small armories.

Alrighty then. Curious about how you plan to truck on down to the recruiting station to give away your stuff after you pass away? How and why is nothing traceable?

I'll be giving almost everything away before I pass.

Firearms and knives are not "trackable" between family members and have been handed down since before the foundation of the country. If you do not like it start a thread in the appropriate place and discuss it.

People are just voting on knives they don't have from choices made by people who never handled them.

People just vote for the brand they like or its looks. Therefor this award is... What word am I looking for?

What? I didn't say I "didn't like it", and I'm not questioning your intentions. I was just asking for some clarification on some of the things you said. Your comment about trucking on down the recruiting center to give away non traceable weapons AFTER you die, is a bit confusing. Lighten up, I'm not looking for an argument.

OK now It's getting weird.
Who made the popcorn??? Cuz this baby is about to get closed!

You got that right.

Why are supposed to participate in, or care about, some poll on some other site? I am not even sure asking to go to some other site and vote there is within the rules. Weird.

A "Knife of the Year" poll here would be cool, if someone wanted to and could run it. Though that seems to be a practical impossibility.

And? So what do you think of it?

It looks like a run of the mill dagger with some holes in the handle and a "blood groove." Meh. Not even some exotic steel.

Looks OK. I'd buy the Nomad made out of A2 but they're out of stock.

You didn't answer my question at all. Why did you choose the knives you did for best of 2018?

I cannot tell you all of the steps that I go through when I decide to add a knife to my short list, where it then sits with dozens of other knives. Then I get the cash in hand and I look at my list for inspiration, and I pick one.

Do you want me to pick you out a knife? Tell me what price range you are looking at, fixed or folder, blade style, blade material, grip material, and I'll see if I can help.

I'd like to know the best option to replace the discontinued CRK Pro Soldier.

It can be bare bones or have scales.

Easy thumb break or removal from sheath and neck carry option.

Dissapear in the pocket

Plain edge and no coating

Less than $150

Made in USA

So you are going to list your best knives of 2018 with out any explanation or handling them?

And on that note, I certainly don't need your advice in picking out a knife.

Does it have to have S35VN steel? 3yrs ago that knife sold for more than $195 retail. I think the list price was near $250+. I might even miss a few! These are my recommendations:

- Emerson Kwaiken Neck Knife in 154CM for $150
- Gerber 30-001006 Ghostrike Deluxe Fixed 3.3" Black Blade, Rubberized Handles, Ankle Sheath ($60 at Knife Center) BDZ-1
- Ka-Bar Clip Point Fixed Blade Neck Knife (3.875" Black ) 1117 ($40 at BladeHQ)
- Les George Mid-Tech Galvo Boot Knife 4" CTS-XHP Double Edge Dagger Blade, Orange G10 Handles, Kydex Sheath ($250 at Knife Center)

Thank you for reminding me of this. It's the one and a heck of a tag for US made :). $100 under budget on the Becker Necker.

Coating aside. It looks amazing.
