On 9/29/08 I ordered 4 Byrd Meadowlark knives to give as gifts. The inventory
quantity on the WEB site showed that they had plenty. I sent them a Paypal payment. The next day I received an email from a Knifesite employee stating
that "I am sorry, the items that you have ordered is currently back-ordered. These items appeared on our website due to an inventory error." The email offered me the option of cancelling my order, which is what I requested.

On October 2, I received an email from the same employee stating that "I have already cancelled your order. We will refund the money back to your PayPal account asap."

To make a long story short, after 10 days and numerous emails, I had to file a Paypal dispute and escalate it to a claim. I also had to dispute the charge on my credit card.

On the 11th day I finally received a credit to my Paypal account. What makes this so pathetic is that on their WEB site they have the following statement:

"Knifesite.com is a Family owned & operated business, we have been retailing online since 1998. We take great pride in our customer service, fast shipping & over 14129 products."

"Let our Customer Service & Selection Impress You Today!"

Needless to say, my experience shows the exact opposite to be true.

BUYER BEWARE

I ordered a T.O.P.S. ALRT from them over a week ago, my order still shows as pending and I can get no response via email or their online "contact us" form. I'm beginning to believe was taken for a fool.

I'm always wary of online retailers that don't have a toll-free business line, or address. They already have live chat and have the option for a customer to order by fax...why no regular phone line or toll-free number? How about if I want to order by phone?

For a family operated business, online since 1998 no less, the least they could have is a toll-free number. :thumbdn:

Buyer beware is my lesson here. I get what i deserve for trying to save a couple of bucks I guess.
