Knifetests.com-whats YOUR opinion

I started reading this thread, and then realized that it was almost 40 pages... so i skipped a whole bunch and decided to post my opinion on knifetests.com , and I'm sure my opinions have been repeated somewhere in this thread

I honestly dont see what is wrong with knifetests.com. sure, it may not be a very practical way of evaluating knives for most, but for someone who is purchasing a knife based on how much abuse it can take, knifetests does a decent job at showing that. sure, its not entirely scientific, and sure it doesnt do a great job of measuring cutting performance (although the apple slices and nylon strip cuts do help) but for the person who will possibly need a knife to stand up to some ridiculous level of abuse, knifetests.com is the only thing out there that attempts to show the buyer at what point the knife will potentially fail.

you are right ! man cool.
the D-tests is a curse of some makers and manufacturers , just a few can Smile .
donating a knife to NOSS need some confidences , i respected Jerry Busse .

i just wanna ask a question here to all makers and manufacturers that you dare to donate a knife or sword to NOSS?
do not say his test is nothing or nonsense , dare you ?

do not take my words seriously , just kidding .:D:D:D

i think that problem with noss is that he's trying to destroy the knife. when he tweaks tests in order to do lasting damage he always, always makes me cringe. on the other hand, sometimes it's interesting to see just what a piece of metal is capable of. yeah, i won't ever take my knife to concrete or smash it with a hammer, but it always strikes me as impressive when he does that and somehow the knife survives, or doesn't. i almost view it as a test of the metal itself rather than of the knife.

40 pages.(facepalm)

!!!!!!!!!!!!

if I could afford to have blades destroyed I would.... no wait, I'd rather do it myself

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet about the test. But I think they are way to easy on the knives. Seriously POS knives that ordinary people break cutting butter last way to long on his test. Far to generous with the ratings and reviews. And far to easy on the knives. Just my two cents.

come on ,man. www.knifetests.com
you are welcome.

I know that "don't argue" mantra is repeated over and over and over again, but you smug "non-arguers" must realize the internet would have about 1% of its present bandwidth if no one argued on it... :D

Ok ok I didn't want to get involved in this but after really thinking about it here's what I think... If you plan on using a knife for things a knife should not be used for then it might be helpful. I also think that knifetest can also be misleading because it can make a inferior knife look better than a higher quality knife that's geared towards edge retention also instead of just toughness. The guy with the mask seems like a arrogant moron who is a legend in his own mind and he's doing something great that's a huge service to people when he's just being a idiot. I never do most of the crap he does that breaks knives so to me and most realistic average knife users I think his tests are for entertaiment purposes only:D

so many haters here.
I would love to se detractors of knifetests.com to have LESS "AD-HOMINEM ATTACKS" to Noss person himself and more reasonable or scientific arguments about how wrong are his testing procedures. Things like "he is a moron, looking for attention" are totaly out of place. We suppose to be discussing about how good are the Noss4 tests for knife community, not trying to do psycological statements or personal judgements about other persons.
By the way, anyone can clearly know how much edge retention has his knives, and how well they cut. But i seriously doubt that any knife lover around BF will buy for example a 400 bucks Chris Reeve´s knife or a 600 dollars Busse Combat to intentionally beat the crap out of it till destruction, so we can say that knifetests.com POSITIVELY HELPS knife buyers to figure out what could happen to his knife if they need to give them some abusive use. This is always good to know, specially in survival knives. Remember that survival situations are TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE. So even if you dont see it possible, destiny could lead you to be using your knife to pry an elevator door, hack some concrete blocks to scape from some place or some other emergency tasks that coud be consider unusual for a knife.
I am just trying to be fair and educated and not to misslead this topic to something that´s totally out of place as throwing bullcrap to certain person.

In the end, or at least as of today today, this thread was one of the biggest knfietests.com promos.
Despite of all the heated arguments here, Noss detractors worked hand in hand with Noss non detractors to draw more visitors to his place.
Arguably, more credit goes to detractors, since they have kept this thread going far longer than the most avid Noss' fans would be able alone.

I think one Nossite is doing a pretty good job of stringing this one along, having resurrected it from the dead. I wonder if dingy is getting a kickback.

cool, my thought

No, not cool. Needs more thought than fantasy. Opening elevator doors, please rethink that consideration.

Survival requires mental preparation and understanding of potential situations. This rarely involves watching popular movies.

Late to the party I see.

Well my personal opinion? I came across Knifetests before I did Bladeforums, and way before that I visited Chris Reeve's web site, Spyderco and Benchmade.

The tests looked to me to be a rough gauge of how much beating a knife could take. After a bit of experience, I know what I want out of a knife, and if I'm looking for a nuke-proof tank for the apocalypse or something, KT will be my first resource. Backed up, of course by you guys.

:D Dude, judging by the persistence you posted here, looks like Noss has you on full payroll, including medical insurance and other social benefits.
