Knifeworks Shot Show Griptilian

*wiping the drool off my face! lol

There's a local dealer that has one in stock, and he's offered to sell it to me at a slight discount from the $225 sticker price. I love the knife, but I'm torn on wether it's really worth the money or not. I'm not a collector, so this would see use and pocket time on regular occasssions. What do ya'll think.., grab it, or pass it on to a collector??

Probably the best Griptilian ever made by Benchmade to date.......do it......if you got the cash.

If its not too harsh on your budget than i would say go for it. Its such an intriguing knife in my opinion. If your looking for something a little more flashy or blingy than your average knife then this it for sure

What was the cause of the delay between the first batch that shipped and this batch? Pure curiosity, no complaints or whining at all. ;)

Mine will ship out tomorrow, we'll see if its a big enough improvement over a standard Grip to convince me to hang on to it :)

I heard something about a mechanical difficulty at the factory, tough to say with any certainty though.

I think what people need to understand is how busy the company is. If you look through the current catalog, there's a lot of different models being offered. They can't stop the 'presses' and attend to a single project; everything's done in multiples and that does not include the limited runs, such as this KW Grip, and never mind the enormous flood of incoming repairs. So what they do must be on a tight schedule, where they say: "Now we'll build a small run of 30 530-1302 knives for KnifeWorks." Technical staff have to be re-routed to this, and in the end, it's a whole lot of starts and stops. I'm amazed anything gets done at all, and the coreography must be amazing. So, if we wonder why the knives come out in batches maybe this will help us to understand why...!

You're right Joe. I think most people have no idea of what the term production schedules mean. I've posted about this several times explaining that based on what some manufacturers share about the inner workings of their facilities. However, the comment I made was derived from someone speaking directly to KW, that was the answer they received. Whether it was true or not, only Benchmade knows for certain.
Most people think that every manufacturer in Oregon and Colorado run their factories 24/7/365 and that is obviously not the case. Nor are there robots assembling, sharpening, and boxing these knives. Most reasonable folks know this. Impatience gets the best of folks sometimes, no matter how rational they are. It's natural and speaks to the excitement that these products bring to the community. I for one, and stoked for this particular release.

Thank you RD, I am too. Being newly in business for myself funds are always scarce. I have the KW Limited 530 at the factory getting fine-tuned and am looking at getting a Volli later in the spring, but can't see anything beyond that right now. If one of the SHOT Grips surfaces, I might bite, maybe. There are, and have been, rumors on mid-year additions to the catalog offerings, but nothing's real/confirmed/and purely vapors at this moment. But I am not upset or worried; at this point I own more than enough of these things, and in my *ahem* spare time have plenty to do just maintaining my present collection.

i just realized KW sent mine UPS instead of the usual Priority, Gotta wait until next week for mine...
however, I have a Brous SS Flipper blacked out arriving today. :D

I've missed out on so many models that I kick myself. The Ares in M390 and the 806 in S30V are a couple that still sting. I made sure to rearrange finances to acquire a pair of these Grips. I figure if I cast a line, I may be able to get one or the other. Time will tell. I need to trim my collection focus on the reacquisition of some of the harder to find models. The hunt is part of the fun. :D
