Knifeworks Shot Show Griptilian

However, the comment I made was derived from someone speaking directly to KW, that was the answer they received. Whether it was true or not, only Benchmade knows for certain.

I am the OP, check my first post. The explaination was a email response from a knifeworks employee. Here it is:

Benchmade was having some troubles with a machine and I believe that is was caused the delay.

I don't know about the others, Joe, but I'm definitely not complaining. Just curious.

I think what people need to understand is how busy the company is. If you look through the current catalog, there's a lot of different models being offered. They can't stop the 'presses' and attend to a single project; everything's done in multiples and that does not include the limited runs, such as this KW Grip, and never mind the enormous flood of incoming repairs. So what they do must be on a tight schedule, where they say: "Now we'll build a small run of 30 530-1302 knives for KnifeWorks." Technical staff have to be re-routed to this, and in the end, it's a whole lot of starts and stops. I'm amazed anything gets done at all, and the coreography must be amazing. So, if we wonder why the knives come out in batches maybe this will help us to understand why...!

:D

But, what machine? :) Wondering...was it for the handles, the blade, the Axis lock bar, or... :

Joe, there is yet another limited M4 Grip coming from a major vendor. :) 'nother day, 'nother chance... ;)

Thank you RD, I am too. Being newly in business for myself funds are always scarce. I have the KW Limited 530 at the factory getting fine-tuned and am looking at getting a Volli later in the spring, but can't see anything beyond that right now. If one of the SHOT Grips surfaces, I might bite, maybe. There are, and have been, rumors on mid-year additions to the catalog offerings, but nothing's real/confirmed/and purely vapors at this moment. But I am not upset or worried; at this point I own more than enough of these things, and in my *ahem* spare time have plenty to do just maintaining my present collection.

i just realized KW sent mine UPS instead of the usual Priority, Gotta wait until next week for mine...
however, I have a Brous SS Flipper blacked out arriving today. :D

I thought their default shipping was UPS. I always asked for Priority and every time but once they complied. They are in Columbia and I was in Baton Rouge. They dropped it in the bayou and I fished it out the next day.

Seriously, often I made an order over the weekend and received it in the mail Tuesday.

We do tend to expect immediate gratification, tho. It's much nicer to wait days instead of weeks.

Thanks Ashley, btw sorry about your cruise.

Maybe Mr. Newell meant Spyderco's going to take over the M4 Grip production...just kidding (sort of...) At least the knives would be consistent with less flaws.

"I'm interested, got more info? "

My favorite Knife vendor that works got 85 P/E in today.
Its listed on the home page.
They are now showing "Out of stock" over the week end.

Quote:
"These will be back in stock on Monday 3/11/13 to be able to place your order.
We have taken them off site for the weekend due to the limited amount we have in stock"

So, there back if you need one.

I added another today as they are "top shelf" IMO.
With COUPON CODE BM20 they are a steal.........

Later

Ha... :D No, GPK says it has another one in the works. Don't mean to slight Roger and the knife crew that works so hard to keep us happy. ;)

I don't think they will be slighted in the least, I bet they are sold out before the end of the day on the Bayou. Nice to see regular limited edition runs coming out of Benchmade. Now if they will just make a G10 scaled M4 Ritter Grip I will be set!

I just ordered a freakin THIRD ShotShow Grip.

I would go nuts if they give the miniGrip the G10/premium steel treatment.

Please... No more coated blades though, if a dealer is reading this, please make your order UNCOATED. :D

Just got mine in. It's awesome. The scales look reptillian with the G10, perfect for something named a Griptillian. Here it is pictured with a GPknives M4 Griptillian and a Presidio in M4.

I really like these knives, even if they are coated. I live in a pretty humid place so I'm glad they are. My M4 Manix has a fair amount of patina, as does a knife I have in 440C. The Standard griptillian is incredibly smooth, more so than any other knife I own. The G10 one is quite smooth, but I haven't played with it much so it might get there. Both of the M4 grips came ridiculously sharp. Overall I'm quite happy.

You & me... I am up to two now, probably won't go for a third since I've got 2x of the 2012 Forum knife. Just want to say: the quality of those two knives (the Shot Show Special and the 2012 Forum knife) are as good as production knives get, right up there at the top with the Southard I got a while back. Having Benchmade run CPM-M4 at 62-64 is a total treat.
