I know on many websites you can get a coupon for signing up but it usually only applies the next order, not the one in the current browsing session. Usually the pop-up about the coupon/discount clearly states this (in really tiny print :) )

I have not dealt with Knifeworks so far, but I see nothing here to deter me from doing business with them. Seems like lots of satisfied customers vs 1 guy(OP) that throws up a complaint about not getting a discount, fails to elaborate and fill in the details, and disappears. Possibly it is the OP I shouldn't deal with ???

Indeed........

It has always been an unwritten rule of GBU that if no money changes hands there is no deal and therefore nothing to complain about.
In this case the OP is complaining about a transaction that never took place. He was not charged for anything and he never entered into a completed transaction with KW.

Indeed he knew exactly what the score was before he entered the transaction and then declined to continue. KW were transparent and correct in their dealings with him.

Since no money ever changed hands and there never was a transaction I urge the mods to lock this thread.

I would also like to see this thread locked, but I do not think it should be based on whether or not a transaction occurred.

Information can posted by members advising on questionable deals or something that appears sketchy that they have encountered without spending a dime, and the merits of the issue can be discussed.

My problem is with someone starting a Negative thread on a MINOR PROBLEM and then not responding to several simple questions regarding the issue.

Thats not entirely accurate.

The rule youre speaking of is in regards to iTrader (or whatever the new equivalent is called) and does not extend to discussion threads. If it did, then it would bar members from discussing repeat tire kickers or other questionable acts that occur without a completed deal .

I do agree that this thread is utterly useless without details and probably did not go as expected by the OP. Small silver lining is that a Bad thread actually turned into a Good thread unintentionally. Lets just hope people actually read the posts and dont just go by the thread title.

KW is rock solid. Many, many (too many :-)) purchases, and a handful of returns, never an issue. Great website, great selection, great prices, great service.

OP, sorry about your frustrating experience, I know these one-off misunderstandings can happen at times even with a good company. But I don't agree with the suggestion that no one else should buy from them, based on your one experience. They have too long of an established track record of stellar service.

B Blender345 As some others have said, I’d appreciate some details or maybe a screenshot of the coupon. I’ve never purchased from Knifeworks but they’re definately in my scan pattern. On one side, I’d like some confirmation before dealing (or not) with a new retailer; on the other side, it’s always nice to know if there’s a chance to save a few bucks on my next purchase.

Etiquette wise, GBU is not typically the place for an OP to drop & run.

Just wanted to complain about knifeworks. Had about $140 of knives in the cart and signed up for email and received a 10% coupon. The coupon wouldn’t work so I emailed them for help. They refused to honor the coupon or help me in any way. I was hoping they would’ve at least honored the coupon they offered as the prices are good but based on principle I cannot buy from them and suggest no one does unless they honor coupons they offer. If they didn’t offer a coupon that’d be fine but don’t pretend like you do and refuse to help when asked.
what did the coupon say? was it for your next order or was it expired? did you intend to use a coupon that wasn't valid for your transaction?

how many knives is 140$ worth?

you would have saved $14?

I've never had any issues with knife works, just ordered a few knives without issue.

Don't put too much stock into what Blender345 said about Knifeworks, and instead read the 30 other replies stating their own appreciation for KWs. I'd bet they're willing to stand by what they said.

Knifeworks is one of my top two favorite places to buy a new knife from. If they have something that interests you, don't be fooled by Blenders cut and run, apparently even he realized he doesn't have a clue or else he'd have backed up his remark a long time ago.

Excellent dealer with great CS. Deal with total confidence.

Blender dropped a turd in the room and bounced.

I’ve lost count of the number of utterly flawless transactions I’ve had with Knifeworks over the past seven or eight years. When USPS delivered my knife to the wrong address, they shipped me another one without any hesitation at all. They are one of the most reputable dealers in the business and their customer service is absolutely top notch.

Knifeworks is one of my top three vendors...and I buy a lot of knives. Unless the OP can substantiate their complaint then it needs to be chalked up to an interwebs snafu.

OP, please come back and either defend your claim or change the title of this thread to "I messed up reading a coupon and I hates them".
