So I wanted to buy a bradley mayhem balisong. I found one at the knifezilla store, I drop an email to the owner asking if he has got it in stock. He replied within 24 hours that he does.

So I charged my VISA, called the store and made sure that the knife was available.

I placed the order and my VISA card was instantly charged. I received an email that the package has been send - great so far.

After a week the package arrived (to Poland where I live).

And now the bad part is starts- I ordered bradley mayhem plain blade, I added this particular item to the cart so I absolutely don't have any f*** idea why I received combo blade.

I hate combo blades so I emailed the store asking for explanation and some idea how the store now was going to fix my messed up order.

It's been a 2 weeks now and I did not receive any reply. The guy completely ignored me and I was stuck with the knife I didn't want.

I strongly don't recommend the knifezilla / PVK store as the owner did not stand behind his goods and when he messes something up, he will ignore you to death, his reputation is obviously less worth to him then the 250$ which is the price of the knife with the shipping.

Beware!

I've been buying knives from PVK for 5-6 years, and while I agree that communication is sometimes poor, I will say that Josh is an honest guy and certainly isn't trying to cheat you. PVK has a 14-day money back guarantee, so I recommend shipping the item back to him (insure it of course) along with a note specifying why you're returning it. Also e-mail him stating what you're doing. He gets busy, which is no excuse for not returning e-mails, but he would not be in business for as long as he has been if he ripped people off.

Not responding to emails cause of beeing busy is not an excuse to me, not after I sent 4 emails and waited 2 weeks for the reply. Especially that I received extremely fast replies before the order.

I don't know if you noticed but i live in Poland. Sending the knife back to US insured is a 50$ cost which is 20% of the price I paid. I don't see any reason why should I pay for the return if I'm not the one who screw up ?

And I also don't feel too comfortable to sending the knife wothout receiving any confirmation that he will return me the money. What if I will send the knife and he will still ignore me ? Somehow I don't want to check that.

I'm glad the things were working for you, unfortunately I can't say the same about my experience with that store.

Like I said, i don't recommend it, and I will never buy again in that store.

Sorry about your experience. I agree, being busy is no excuse, but he sent me two knives before he even received payment from me. I didn't feel like waiting forever for him to respond so I ordered the knives paying by "check", and I received the knives 2 days later. So besides not being responsive communications-wise, he seems disorganized, but certainly not unethical. If you really don't like the knife just send it back and I'm sure he'll take care of it--eventually!

Keep a copy of all of your emails that you have sent him and send him another one that if he does not correct the situation you will notify your credit card company. If he still does not respond in a few days notify your credit card company and after you explain the problem and show them (with your email records) that you have made a good faith effort to contact him to correct the problem they most likely will do a chargeback against him and credit your account.

That's definitely a good idea, man. Fortunately I managed to sell the knife in Poland so the problem has been solved.

Although I still lost 2 weeks of waiting and the fact that the store (imo) deliberately ignored my email is the reason why I wrote this feedback.

I had problems with him a few years ago when I first started buying knives. I received alot of flack on that other forum for even suggesting I had a problem with him. I personally do not care what kind of issues he has going on, as they seem to be consistant issues and there is no excuse for his arrogance. And frankly, don't care who has had good luck with the jerk. He got mad at me cuz he was stroking me, and I called him on it! There are alot of other great places to buy and I have spent plenty over the last few years. His loss.

This is par for the course for Josh. I've read about him treating people this way dozens of times now. I would never consider purchasing a knife from him, because I have no use for dealers that are pathetic at communication, and that describes Josh to a tee.

I have been dealing with Josh for a couple of months now (already gave him like $2000). He does not return emails and forgot to send me stuff 2 times. However, in his defense, he has always come through in the end and got my knives delivered safely. I think that he is an honest guy with a lot going on. It is no excuse and no one is perfect. But from what I know of him, he is definitely not a crook or a dishonest person. And he would not be in this business for so long if he was!

I sent him an Email with a question about shipping a rather expensive knife to me.And low and behold,he did not reply to my Email. Not the best way to get business. His loss.

Ya know, I have now read a couple posts in this thread that are defending Josh as not being a crook. I do not think anyone is saying he is! I will say he is irresponsible and I see that is where other responses are directed. I have noticed with some people, they are willing to defend this kind of behavior until they end up raked over the coals. Then, they go on the attack. If more people would speak with their $$, this behavior would be almost non-existant.

If I had my emails ignored and the place has a phone number (888-878-5643) especially a toll free one, I'd call them until they solved my problem!
That is one good thing about buying from an EBay store and paying with Paypal, they won't ignore your problem (at least none have mine so far) they don't want the negative feedback, if they have a good reputation and it's impossible nearly for them to get over like this guy did with the combo edge. I had the exact same-thing happen to me last week. I was sent a combo edge B/M 610 and the store right away got me a plain edge in the mail. All within the week. In fact they paid my return shipping and gave me a free gift for my trouble.

OK sorry I am 2 weeks behind on email easy... You got free shipping of course if you want to get another sorry for the error on that.

I would very much appreciate the business too & throw in something else no charge for the stress (knife care stuff etc or tell me what you want.)

I GOT SERVED - been a little on the stressed busy side lately sorry!

Benchmade (aka Mentor Group) just dumped a lawsuit on me asking me to document in federal court the sales of imported converted knives that use a patented lock that they aquired the patent for in 2004. They're looking for royalties! What's not very cool is that this lock is used on 40 knives I sell where the makers actually already paid them off (Microtech William Henry etc etc all paid them) and now they're suing dealers directly on knives where the companies wouldn't pay up. This is originally a 1998 Mel Pardue patent on anything that slides on the top of the handle and stops the button from being pressed. Les & Roberta DeAsis purchased the patent (in their names) in 2004 and started handing out demands in 2008 for royalties from many of the popular auto makers (the patent covers auto knives only - however they were able to get mucho $$$ from CRKT on their assisted knives.) They are systematically going through all knife dealers online who sell converted knives from S&W, Boker, UZI and many others - mostly lesser brands of knives that are specifically manufactured to simple to convert. Mentor group demanded money from those makers and they refused to pay so now they have had 50+ dealers into court and made many settlements and many are pending. They also have the conversion places and distributors in court as well. DO a google search for MENTOR GROUP PATENT LOCK and you can see court dockets. Hundreds of thousands are being spent in legal fees by dealers. Taylor and Boker could have prevented this by simply paying a royalty. And in the end it will not matter - Mentor will be able to prove that the knives were manufactured to be auto and then they will be able to collect from Boker & Taylor. But no one will get their money back because everyone has settled or will settle and signed agreements of no recourse on any future outcome.

What can be done? It's either a 10,000$ legal bill and a judgement for about the same amount and documents disclosing the sale of imported auto knives by a web dealer submitted to a federal court or a huge default judgement...

It is certainly Les's right to police his patent he purchased from Mel Pardue but why 4 years later? And why didn't boker and taylor just pay. For the money it would have cost them it's nothing compared to the financial damages it will do to the people who deal that product due to legal fees and settlements.

Taylor (S&W Schrade UZI) and Boker (magnum etc) made these knives specifically to be converted - they're gonna pay in the end but not be on the block until they got all the actual data they're getting from the dealers and distributors then it's gonna be the big kill.

I am not going to say it's not fair. All is fair in love and war - it's just not right. And it;s likely just a little bit tilted away from places that are authorized distributors but we'll really never know will we cause what are they gonna say to us? Sorry this is stupid... Have a good week.

Josh has always done the right thing for me! I have learned impatience is a normal situation with us knife addicts that compounds stress almost to the point of panic! At 56 years of age I have finally realized that stepping back, takeing a deep breath, and haveing faith in people that we have trusted for many years prolongs the joy of knife collecting. Josh has always been busy but he has had more to do with my addiction then just about anyone else! Been buying from him for over 15 years and will stand by him always. Thanks David

This sounds unpleasant, and stressful. But IMO, it's not an excuse for not getting back to somebody for two weeks +. Short of being incarcerated or hospitalized, lack of communication is unacceptable.

Josh, sorry to hear about the recent lawsuits involving the auto safety patent issue. I know it has been a pain for most of the dealers going through it.

However, your communication problems with customers has been an ongoing problem for as long as I can remember. Going back to Blade auction days, and before, it seems like posts like this turn up on different forums every couple months. It has to have caused you many lost sales over the years. Maybe that isn't important to you, but good, timely communication to customers is one of the most important things I think a business can try to provide.

Maybe it would be good to hire some help? Or better help?

Unfortunately I'ts a little too late for me for that.

I've already sold that Mayhem and ordered BM42 (not from knifezilla/PVK) only to receive something what I would call a BM42 leftover

(read more here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=664758&page=3)

Enough to say that recently I'm not extremely lucky wih my overseas orders, so at the moment I am left broke and with not working properly BM42.

So the bottom line is, I can't afford it.
