Photos Knives and tea, pix thread

Some daily carries/users.

Kitchen trio: Kyocera ceramic santoku, Chicago 61S utility knife, & Scrapyard WD5 with its finger quillion trimmed short within the first 5 minutes of receiving it.

Double pocket carry: Spydie Stretch & BM Volli beat to hell warhorse.

Afternoon plain jane tea compadres: Spyderco Opus & Gerber multi-tool (gen 5 I think). I like the Gerber because it's wider jaws will twist 12ga solid Romex copper wires without lateral displacement (think crossing your fingers) like the needle nose multi's I tried did.

Tuesday. Definitely need a second cup…

It’s been a couple of months and I’m still loving this pocket sheath setup with this September 2021 Buck of the Month 301 Stockman and an LT Wright Frontier Valley. It rides quite nicely in the pocket that must otherwise remain empty while at work.

Happy new knife day! I was ordering Christmas gifts for my kids and this Buck 591 Paradigm Shift Auto was rolling around in the bottom of the box when it arrived. :)

As a Southpaw with a mechanical engineering degree and a love of all manner of various mechanisms, I’ve wanted this one since the day it came out but never pulled the trigger on it for three reasons. 1. I’m cheap. 2. Virginia needed a law change. 3. I miss the good old days of going down to the I. Goldberg Army Navy store and holding a knife or gun in my hands to see if I bonded with it. As a lefty I was apprehensive if this one would click with me. Well, a few years later, I’m happy to report that it, in fact, does. I’m really looking forward to getting to know this fella.

What’s your load-out for playing Settlers of Catan? LOL!

I've only ever played this version. It looks a bit different than your version.

Unfortunately, that was back before I got into knives. So, I'll add this obligatory image for the thread.

That’s cool - what language version is that? Ours is the basic game with the 5-6 player expansion pack, and also the Seafarers Expansion and the Seafarers 5-6 player expansion. It makes for some interesting boards and great games.

Got some nice memories with Catan. Bought it when it was pretty new and not translated yet. I still have it (and the knight expansion) but haven't played it in ages.

That's the Russian language version, but no expansion packs. I had started to learn Russian and happened on this while visiting Minsk, Belarus.

The friend who introduced us to Catan has the Cities and Knights expansion. We’ve played it once or twice, but never bought it after they moved. Seafarers gives us just the right level of complexity.

Happy Friday! I love various mechanical mechanisms, especially in knives. The Strong Lock System (SLS) on the Buck 830 Marksman just may be the easiest and most reliable one-handed open and close, with or without gloves, mechanism of any I’ve tried. What works best for you?

I haven’t heard of gunpowder green tea - what’s it like? I’ll have to look into that.
Gunpowder loose green tea is one of the better grades of green tea that's rolled into pellets. A pound of the good stuff will run $16-18 from the big river on-line shopping site. It's a bit more expensive than bags, but I think loose green tea, like gunpowder or dragon well, makes a much better cup of tea.

I’ve never liked green tea as much as black. Do you doctor it up with anything like honey, sugar, lemon, or milk? I like honey, sugar, or lemon in black teas depending on type. I’ll find some gunpowder green tea and give it a shot.
