Knives carried by people you know

Every male I've ever known, and presently know (relatives, friends, co-workers) carries, or has carried a traditional, be it case, old timer or whatever. The most common a stockman, second trapper. Some of my co-workers carry moderns like benchmades, kershaws, etc. No one I know carries a Spyderco except myself and my sister-in-law, which I gave her and she loves and uses frequently.

My cousin religiously carrys a SAK in its leather sheath, hes been doing it for many years.

‘My dad always has had some sort of pocket knife. At times he’d have a Buck. Various cheap knives that he’d use until they broke or he lost them. I got him a mini crooked river a couple years back. He lost it. I got him another one and he’s got it put up and doesn’t carry it. It’s with the custom engraved Buck I got him as well.

My wife keeps a ZT0450CF in her purse I gave her. She also has a Benchmade Triage in the Jeep and a Tops fixed blade. Not sure if the model, it was gifted to me.

My brother in law will have a cheap folder of some kind always. Cheaper Kershaw’s would be his price limit. Same goes for my two uncles, always have one but nothing of excess amount of money.

My best friend carried a Buck of some kind for quite some time. It’s a flipper model but not sure of the name. He also has a lot of Case knives that are put up for collection. He carried a Benchmade Mini Coalition for several years and kept breaking clips. He eventually said get me a CRK. He handled all of mine and settled on a Small 21 micarta Insingo. I bought it off the exchange here at a good price. It’s been in his pocket every day since. No broken pocket clips as well.

In her purse, the Wife carries an orange Leek she stole off of me. In her hiking pack, she also has an old Gerber AR 3.0 that she’s had for at least 15 years.

Dad always has something on him. Sometimes a Spyderco (think it’s a Delica, but not sure) and other times, it’s something a bit more suspect in quality, like a Smith and Wesson, Paraframe, or something else he thought was a steal at $30.

Father-in-law always carries a MT of some sort. Always a Leatherman, and the model varies by day and task.

Only friend I know whe regularly caries a decent blade is a die-hard Spydie fan, and has at least a dozen. Though I have seen a Bugout in his pocket on occasion.

Everyone else I know who carries a knife, it almost always something cheap as far as I know, Or, all the guys in the warehouse at work who always have a utility knife on them.

I carry a buck 110, 303, and a 309 with a 120 general in the truck.
Girlfriend carries a Buck 293 inertia and a 110 in her car.
Dad carries a Sharps stockman leatherman sidekick or a Buck 110.
Little brother carries a Buck 503 prince
Sister a off brand victorinox
Uncle a victorinox classic

Wife carries Delica G10.
My girls carry FRN Delicas. One white and one blue.
My stepfather carries a Spydie Chaparral.
Younger brother carries CS Voyager LG Tanto.
Older bro carries a BM Bugout. He was carrying the Mini Freak.
My friend Chris carries a CS Voyager XL Clip point.
My buddy Joe carries an Ontario Utilitac.
A friend named Steve was carrying one of the Chinese Spydercos the last time I saw..
And, my friend Chase carries the ESEE Izula I gave him for graduation.

My cousin carries a Hogue Deka wharncliffe I got him for his birthday in July. Before that an all black Kershaw Leek.

Me ex carried a pink Kershaw Shuffle.

My buddy carries an ancient Blur.

The only people I know who carry knives are my brother and his wife. They each have Victorinox Classic SAKs that I gave them one Christmas many years ago.

A co-worker of mine carried an S30V Keyshawn Blur. I’m not sure if our workplace will even reopen after being closed for 6 months since the quarantine, so he’s more like an ex-co-worker.

That’s it!

Jim

My fiance works in the local hospital executive office and carries a Kershaw Launch 9 I gave her. Primary use is unboxing a multitude of packages she receives daily and the Launch 9 has forced me to get better at freehand sharpening as I can't reach the entire blade when I tried to use my Edge Pro.

Gave our son a sak Pioneer last year. He carries it when not at school and uses it around the house for various chores. I try not to be first on the draw with whatever I'm carrying to give him more opportunities to use the Pioneer.

Around here everyone carries a knife. Most of my friends and family carry my knives:

Daughter carries a Coyote in ironwood:

My friend Bruce from Canada I see only at shows usually. He buys a new one every time I see him. He must have over 20. One time him and bunch of his cronies ambushed me at the truck as I was carrying the boxes with the knives from the truck to the booth. They held a cold beer to my head and made me lay em out on the tailgate. Sold 13 before I got the knives into the tent where the booth was. Here he's carrying a Buckaroo:

While strictly not part of the OP's question it is fun to got to a big show and see lots of folks wearing your knives. Biggest and richest ranch roping there is:

Counted 36 knives on folks that stopped by the booth:

Including these two young ladies that were part of the crew putting on the show:

They both had well used Coyotes:

My son here coming in for the heels at that same roping is an anomaly, he's a Case Trapper kind of guy:

A friend uses an original BlindHorse Knives Frontier Valley I bought for him awhile ago. He used it for camping ⛺️ recently. He says he uses it a lot, for small camp chores.

Nothing crazy.

On the low end, lots of gas station specials, Mtechs, orange snap knives, box cutters, folding razor knives, and hand me downs of better brands.

On the middle - I still see lots of Schrades, Buck 110s. Folding tools like the Leatherman, Gerber Multi-plier, etc.... various Gerbers, Spyderco FRN series. Fixed blades - Buck black handled series, Ka-Bars, Gerbers, Pilot Survival knives, etc....

Higher end - Spyderco Police models, some of the other models. Fixed Blades - Cold Steel.

Most folks I know just buy what's in the sporting or hardware stores display cases or what catches their eye on Amazon, and uses it till it wears out.

Among my tighter circle of friends, Spyderco wins out. A lot of women I know love the opening hole, it's always mentioned.

I gave my wife a SAK. She happily bragged about it to her mystified friends. Now she can’t find it.

A few of my friends will carry a leatherman. Other than that it's mostly an mtech or a lower end kershaw. They seem to think I'm slightly crazy because I carry a fixed blade.
