... i love my sebenza it intrigues me as i would call it the glock of the knife world , not alot of changes but
still judged as tops...
I don’t know if CRK is “the Glock of the knife world”. I’d consider Spyderco more “Glockish”; Or perhaps some other consistent manufacturer of dependable, not always pretty or inspired knives.
CRK is more like H&K or Sig. A high-quality brand that knows how to make a good product that many are willing to pay a little more for. They are willing due to both a well earmed reputation and a bit of brand recognition. Quality aside, there’s is a little more of a “status symbol” factor with CRK. Nothing against Glock. The 21 and 36 are among my favorite .45 ACP platforms. I just think most folks consider Glock a dependable standard more than that level of “high end”.
If we were talking cars, it would be the difference between like VW and say Mercedes, BMW, etc. Maybe Glock is more like Toyota and CRK is Lexus? No wait, then they’d be Japanese. Let’s stick with VW and Benz. Of course some even compare CRK to a Ferrari. Not sure if I’d go that far. Plus that’s Italian and I don’t wven want to bring Foxx or LionSteel into this... Whoa, way off track now... Focus...
Personally, I finally bought a Large Sebenza 21 Inkosi with Black Micarta. It really is amazing to experience. You actually feel a level of precision and build every time you pick it up. I mean it seems to actually ooze quality. CRK is so good, that it basically can’t help but get a little bit on you. I’m pretty sure that used to be a slogan they used. Yeah, I’m sure that’s right. 100%. Anyway, I also have a Spydie Slysz Bowie and I think the Slysz has the most precise and satisfying lockup I’ve ever seen.
With that said, CRK is a benchmark of quality and a classic. You’ll probably never get a bad one at this point. But... the industry has also evolved and more brands and designers are making amazing knives than ever before; And $400 can get you a lot of knife; Be it CRK or any number of others. Just my opinion of course. I’m am a relative newb.
Anyway, awesome discussion everyone. On a completely unrelated note, if anyone is interested in a “near mint” Slysz Bowie, I’m selling one for $2500 dollars U.S. Course half of that is priority shipping (you’re welcome).
I think that’s fair for the secondary market.
Serious inquires only please.
