Knives for drifting around?

My wife and I travel around the area a bit. We can travel through different jurisdictions in the course of an afternoon. I like having a small leatherman, delica, and some sort of food knife that's kept clean. I bounce back and forth between a fixed blade and a spydie military depending on what I'm doing. If it was long term I'd prolly opt for an opinel or svord peasant for a food knife to make sure I'm legal.

Food prep would be a big task since space and weight would be limited. I'd rather carry something like a sodbuster or opinel for food prep over a kitchen knife just for versatility sake.

For drifting the U.S. I've mostly carried my Victorinox SAK Champion and Tekna Ocean Edge or original HEST fixed blade by Rowen, minimum. Usually had another one, likely a small leuku, somewhere in my gear.

Internationally I've never carried fixed blades, even pre-9/11. It's a SAK Champion and Benchmade Panther usually.

Only place I was ever busted internationally was in Canada for the SAK, in a belt case, at an amusement park in Montreal. I requested a receipt for it and they returned it by mail once I was home and sent a claim.

I'd carry this inside my pack. Just a chef's knife *wink* and then probably a multitool with a non-locking blade.

If drifting, I'd want something that can do it all. Leatherman 300. No question. then a small knife to keep in a pocket for easier access. Perhaps an Opinel.

I think I would go with a Large Regular Sebenza, and my Leatherman(or old Gerber) muti-tool.

When I first read the title I was thinking this, lol.

I'd probably take what I'm EDC'g now; my Victorinox Swisstool Spirit and SAK Executive, along with my CRK small Insingo. Might also include a Spyderco Salt of some kind, down in my bag.

My drifting combo for travel. Depending on where, I'd keep a larger fixed blade (BK2 / BK5) and a SAK in my bag / car. If I had plans for flying anywhere, I'd leave my knives at home and pick up a knife where I landed. Then I would mail the new knife home.

Thanks for reminding me of the bk11. I lent mine to my dad a while ago and havent seen it since. But damn I love that knife. My favorite fixed blade by far and I usually dont even like small fixed blades. I wish they would make a larger 5-7" bladed model with the same general design. Would be so great.

Anyways for drifting as of now I would bring my leatherman charge, and either my esee 6 or my cold steel american lawman depending on my style of drifting.

If I we're drifting I would probably avoid most places that have strict blade laws, usually the larger cities. I would consider it more of a backpacking trip. I would want two fixed blade for the camping aspect of it and possibly food prep, a regular pocket knife for light tasks, a multi tool and maybe a fillet knife just for fishing because it's an easy way to gather food. I would probably take more than a few just to keep me occupied lol

Benchmade Bushcrafter
Esee Izula
Leatherman Charge
Spyderco PM2 or Military
& some random 7in fillet knife

I would take any of my various Benchmades but being on an excursion I don't know to what extent I would trust the axis lock. Haven't had trouble with one yet but that's the last place I would want to test my luck

I'd bring these two.

And a fixed blade, if I could conceal it easily. For those hard times/heavy duty tasks

If I was drifting about I would likely carry my ka- bar usmc short and a case full size trapper .Both have a classic look and feel that I really like . They are both easy to sharpen and work well for bushcrafty things.

Buck 110, Buck 301 Stockman, and a 4 blade scout/camp knife (spear point blade, cap lifter /screwdriver, can opener, awl/punch or pen blade)
My daily EDC.

Hey, how are those scales attached? I have an izula 2 but the scales would move around on me no matter how tight the screws were. I think the cut outs they glue in have just enough tolerance to be loose. It wasn't a lot but it bugged me. I love that size though and I'm thinking about the Becker setup you have.

Scales fit perfectly. They did require a tiny bit of sanding to get there but they dont budge. Each scale is a single piece the spot where they met in the middle was just a little off. I just placed sandpaper flat on a table and rubbed it a few times until it all fitted perfectly. I have had no problems with movement, and I've used that 11 to assist me with cutting vinyl flooring.

I'd make due with whatever Woody Guthrie toted along on his travels. Probably an ole Barlow. Add a P38 to open cans of beans around the fire, and maybe a screwdriver for self defense.

Barlow, stockman, either would do. JUst don't forget the P-38! I'd carry the classic to keep my nails trimmed.:D
