What's your price range? This is a really broad question.

If I was going to deploy I'd do it with something from Busse or Randall.

Check out DPX gear. Some really solid knives in good steels. Excellent warranty for service guys. Fallkniven would be.my first choice but they are pricey.
Lots of other options as well. You will get many here. Good luck

Tops Pry-Knife.

From what I understand, an all-purpose tool that can be asked to pry and hammer, is going to be more worth the extra weight to add to your kit.

I'll look into this as an addition as well

Your type of deployment is a large consideration. Front line combat unit? Intel? Supply? Also, where? Frozen north? Sandy/hot south? Pacific island?

HK 14147 Dispatch.

Made in USA by Benchmade, D2 steel, only 5 ounces.

Stay safe out there, Air Force.

air force firefighter. Persian Gulf area.

I cant say Ive ever seen a firefighter with a sheath knife on their belt (I cannot imagin e how they would even get to it in their gear)....and it seems that more efficient pry and hammer tools are at hand than a knife.

What do you realistically expect to do with the fixed blade?

Maybe knowing that can help us help you.

Last time I deployed, we had a guy with horizontal small fixed blade on the small of his back.
But Your pretty much right lol. Extremely rare. I should have been more clear in what I meant. Looking for a folding knife in a sheath. Something extra to have on me. Being in that area, you could never be over prepared.

When wearing a fullcover flameprotection overall, it will be difficult to carry anything outside the overall.
I know this as I was a member of the firebrigade in the Swedish Navy, when helicopters landed on the deck.

Yes. What do you plan to do with it?

Stainless or high carbon? Blade length?

Without knowing anything else, an Esee 3 or 4 are great all around general use fixed blades. Tough, inexpensive, and have a great warranty. If you break the blade they will give you a new one. For stainless the Falk suggested above might be a great option. For a blade you could find most anywhere a SOG Seal pup is a great budget option. Also, make sure you have some way to sharpen these knives and your MT.

How about something like Leatheman Raptor shears? Or getting a neck knife instead of a belt knife?

You seem to like BM. How about the Adamas? Comes with a sheath/pouch. Over budget but it is one tough folding knife. Really though, any folding knife can go in a belt pouch provided you find the right one.

well... cause i love knives LOL
no but truthfully, it will be a general purpose knife. i know they are less maintenance. also, a safety factor. young airmen can be reckless. this will be a knife i can hand without less of a worry than a folder.

I'd get an Esee 3 then. I've got several. If a buddy breaks the blade they send you a new one. Get a cheap stone as well. The Seal Pup and the Mora are nice more budget friendly options.
