I'd get an Esee 3 then. I've got several. If a buddy breaks the blade they send you a new one. Get a cheap stone as well. The Seal Pup and the Mora are nice more budget friendly options.

I was going to nominate the Becker BK10 (or 16,2,22). Right on your budget and a well made knife. I like the size of the BK10 and additional thumb ramp.

It's a winner for sure. I prefer the Canvas Micarta scales that come on the DT version. I dyed them an OD green color. My other 3 has dyed blue handles (actually my daughters knife).

For the price though you'd be well served to throw a mora in your kit as well.
