I've always liked copper for some reason. And what kid doesn't like small pocketable toys. I remember having fun with some spin tops. Maybe why I was willing to spend way too much on some small toys as an adult. I've also had an affinity towards Barlow knives. Maybe it had to do with sharing a name in common. A Barlow was one of my first knives as a kid. The first time I saw this KaBar Barlow in copper, I just HAD to have it.
And the 50th Anniversary Daisy.... This was my first BB gun as a kid. Was acquired new by my father in 1936. Used by him, my siblings, and abused a bit by me. I wish it were in better condition, but am happy to at least still have it.
A little S&W love. Ok, I apologize in advance for the knives in the pic. Was going to use some knives more befitting the firearms, but decided last minute to keep the logo theme together. I will accept any verbal lashings you see fit.
One more for tonight. Pretty knives, Butt ugly gun.
Story behind. Years ago I purchased some gold plating equipment. Didn't really have much in the way of purpose, other than wanting to do some car emblems and such. But then went on a kick to "test" it out, as well as starting to push the limits on different materials.
I was carrying the G26 at the time. After testing out some different quality of chromed auto parts, I wondered if it would work on the Glock with existing coatings. If I remember correctly, I tested it out with some cheaper solutions first (copper or nickel maybe?). It seemed to work, so I went for the "gold". After shooting it a few times, it kind of took on an antiqued look. I didn't like it enough to ever be seen carrying it again. But certainly wasn't worth the expense of refinishing. So it just goes to the range occasionally, and used as a prop for the occasional "dumb gun story".
